I was home, preparing dinner for my hungry monsters when suddenly Rosie stepped in with, I assumed, one of his friends from school, laughing and smiling.

"Hey there, who's that?" I asked as I wiped my hands in the kitchen cloth and walked over to them.

"Mum, that's Chris. He's my- uhm- boyfriend" She said looking down at her shoes.

"Your boyfriend?" I raised my brows at her, she usually always told us everything, she had no secrets that we wouldn't know, or at least that's what we thought. I looked at him and he looked just as handsome as Shawn was in his younger years, a good looking hopefully gentleman and not a fuckboy.

"Well it's nice to meet you" I extended my hand and he shook it.

"Nice to meet you too Mrs Mendes"

"Oh just call me 《y/n,》 I'm not that old"

"Yet" Rosie added and he chuckled.

I just rolled my eyes at my teen daughter and went back to the kitchen "You guys wanna eat something? I made spaghetti right now so if you want to-"

"No thanks mum, we're not hungry. We're gonna be in my room"

"But Rose" I held up my finger.

"No mum, not like that" She had a red face and her eyes went wide cause she knew what I was talking about.

"Okay sorry, but your dad is gonna be here any minute" I warned her that it wasn't the best idea to get comfortable there. I knew Shawn would freak out if he knew that a boy is upstairs with his little beloved girl.

I remember when Rose was just in preschool and a boy came up to her, handing her a dandelion and Shawn took it before she could reach it with her little hands. He made clear that the only man in her daughter's life would still be him. Once, Rose was invited to the little boy's birthday and he made sure he had his eyes on his little daughter not letting her get near to boys which was kind of hard since there were more boys than girls. He wanted her to know how a boy should be around a girl, when we went to restaurants he always pulled out the chair and helped her up, then pushed her back to the table and taught her how to behave in a place like that.

She went upstairs and just in that moment, as she closed her door, the front door opened revealing my husband and the twins who he picked up from school.

"Hey darling" he came up to me and kissed me on my cheek, looking over my shoulder "What are you cooking?"

"Spaghetti"

"That's okay, I guess" he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on a chair at the table.

"You better not guess until you haven't tasted it!" I replied sassily, pointing with my finger and went back to cooking "How was school?"

"It was okay, I got an A on the test but Liam just a B minus" Amber threw her stuff on the floor and sat down on the couch, turning the TV on.

"Could you please bring your bags upstairs? I already cleaned today and I don't want a messy house" I said as I put out plates and made the table.

"It's always messy when we're home" Shawn stated sitting on a chair looking at me.

"But today Rose has a friend over and I-"

"What? What friend? You mean not Ashley or Grace? Is it a boy?" He got up and already made his way towards the stairs.

"Shawn calm down, they're just hanging out and that's okay"

"And what if they do the, you know, the thing..." he glanced at the door, from which came laughter, shoving his hands into his jeans pocket.

"She's just 15 Shawn, she won't do it, after all she's too innocent for that and she's just looking for love and that means a boyfriend" I pecked his cheek and hugged him as I felt his jaw clench.
