The little gift you've got for your son for his second birthday is a gift you know Shawn would discriminate and would not shut up how the hell you would buy it for him, while it wouldn't really work or so you thought. He would want to buy a new one for him, a real one.

"Hey baby" he came to press a kiss on your cheeks while his eyes travelled to all the wrapped up presents in blue paper with rockets on them. "You've got all those for Nathan? He'll only be two, he won't even really appreciate these" he mumbled, feeling skeptical where to put them when you don't even have that much space for all the toys now.

"Why? It's not just all from us, it's also from your parents and mine, including all the other people who wanted to get him something. I just wrapped them up so they don't have to bring anything else but themselves." You turned to look at him as he smiled at you.

"Can't believe our little boy will be two, as if I held him yesterday for the first time and locked eyes with." He reached for your hands and pulled you into his chest.

"I know, like it would've been yesterday that I found out I'm pregnant. It was a big moment for us." You kissed his lips and pulled back as soon as you heard crying coming from upstairs. "You better get him, he won't stop until you're there." You ushered your husband to get your crying son who woke up from his nap.

It wasn't usual these days that he cried when waking up, you would notice it the day after he was gone for some performances across Canada. It was only for about nine days but he missed him so much that he started crying immediately after waking up. You tried your best to calm him down, but he would only mumble similar words to 'daddy'. It broke your heart and you felt worthless, seeing that the only person for your son good enough was his father. You would text him if it was okay to call him and he would call you immediately, thinking something must've happened.

Minutes later your two boys appeared while coming down the stairs; Nathan still hiccuping from his crying and Shawn not taking his eyes off of him while coming down. "Oh my little boy, you don't need to cry. Look, daddy is here and will be here for a long time again." You cooed at him, stroking his little cheek while he quickly turned around and nuzzled his head into his father's shoulder, finding the walls somehow more interesting than being in your arms.

You sighed and started putting all presents into the living room where the next day everyone would gather around Nathan to see him open all his presents. Shawn noticed the sad look on your face and followed you with Nathan still on his hips.

"Y/n, what's wrong?" He asked softly as he took your hand and stopped you from doing what you wanted.

"Did you see how he immediately turned around in your arm? How he feels when you're away and how he never wants me to hold him these days? I feel worthless, like I've been robbed from something so close to my heart. I feel like I'm the worst mom in history."

"Hey," he wrapped his free arm around you and kissed your head "don't say that. You know he loves you, he's just getting to know how it feels when I'm away and is clingier after I'm back, that's all. You're not a bad mom and you know that. I'm so sorry you feel this way, but trust me he's a mommy's boy, even if he's not showing it yet." He smiled warmly at you and that smile, which could win him a couple hundred girls, made you smile too.

"I'm so sorry I'm doubting myself even though he's gonna be two and we've already been parents for all those years." You snuggled yourself into his embrace while Nathan turned around and looked at the both of you, still in his dad's arms.

"It's okay, we both know it's not easy but I think we're keeping up pretty good." He chuckled now and Nathan joined in too as his dad made funny noises and faces at him.
