So basically, I tried to avoid the ‘date’ topic the next day in school. But, as expected, Cassie didn’t let me get away with it. She cornered me by the lockers and asked me what happened yesterday.

She looked so serious that I fidgeted in my place. She continued to look me in the eye but I still didn’t talk.

“Lilith, we can do this the hard or easy way, but one way or another, I will make you tell me what happened.” She warned me.

She looked so dangerous that I quickly told her what happened, barely a chance of catching my breath.

She sighed for somewhat defeat, maybe what I told her was not what she was expecting.

“So that’s all?” She asked quietly.

I instantly knew something was up, so I spoke with the softest voice I can manage.

“Yes… Cassie, what’s wrong?”

When she looked at me, she was on the verge of crying. She looked like she really want to spill something to me but thought better and blinked hard to remove the forming tears.

“Nothing, I was just acting, you know to enhance my skills.” She said playfully, trying her best to grin. It could’ve been a nice expression if only the happiness in it touched her eyes.

I decided to let her be and not question her until she’s ready to tell me what she was keeping inside.

We entered our classroom, which was surprisingly not in so much chaos as usual, and made our way to our seats. We passed by Violet who slyly grinned at me.

“Good luck, Lilith.” She told me and giggled with Valerie.

I considered it as a friendly notice (though it didn’t sound like that) and continued to my seat.

After an hour or so, Kyle and his group arrived. He went to his seat without even looking at me, I thought that he didn’t notice me so I got his handkerchief from my bag (which was always with me) and headed for him.

I stood in front of him and muttered ‘Hi’ and offered his handkerchief to him.

He looked at me then but the look was cold, his lips formed a thin line as if he was annoyed and snatched the handkerchief from my hands.

“Did you wash it thoroughly?” He asked blankly.

“Um…” I mumbled, taken aback by his attitude.

“Well, did you?” He asked, more forcefully now.

I felt tears forming now so I blinked furiously and smiled.

“Of course, I did.”

“Good, is that all?”

“Um… yes.”

“Then get off my face now.” He said coldly and made a dismissing gesture to shoo me off.

Well.

Ouch.

 I was starting to tear up again, I was frozen in place. Kyle noticed and glared at me.

“Didn’t you hear what I said? Go away.” He said irritated.

Cassie, noticing our little scene, went and stood in front of me. I could feel her shake with anger, she held my hand as if to control herself but I’m not sure she can because her grip tightens every second.
