"I just love days like today! It's absolutely perfect!" Emma exclaimed as we walked down the shoreline.

"I just can't believe summer's almost over though." I said.

"Well, we still have another few weeks so let's make the best of it." I nodded.

I never liked school. Maybe it's just because I'm not a people-person or something but, I just hate it. I do well in school - I'm in 11th grade and I still have a 4.0 GPA - but I just don't like it.

Emma on the other hand, loves it. I swear it's like she's in every club in that school. She's got me to join in a few of them, but I'm really not interested. I'm only in them so she'd quit bugging me about having no school spirit.

And, Emma's really my only friend there, so the classes we don't have together are terrible. But she is friends with everyone! I don't think there's one person there that doesn't like her. She's too nice. My mom calls her a butterfly because everyone loves her and she just flys around to everyone.

"Hey Emma! Presley!" We turned around and saw Emma's older, Devin, brother running towards us.

"Hi Devin!" We greeted him.

"What are you doing here?" Emma asked.

"What? A guy can't just come to the beach to hang out with his sister and her best friend who might as well be his sister?"

Me and Emma shared a look. Then said together in unison,

"What do you want?"

"I got a date tonight and I want to use your car." Emma's parents got her a Mustang for her 16 birthday.

"And what's wrong with your truck?"

"She's not big on trucks."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, you mean to tell me that you're going out on a date with a girl who doesn't like trucks?"

"Well, she's hot and seemed really nice so yes, I asked her out. But after I did was when we started talking about cars - her dad's a mechanic - and then she said she didn't like trucks and that she's only in to sports cars. So, it's not like I could un-ask her out."

"Fine." We started walking back to our stuff - it probably wasn't the best idea to leave it unattended but nothing was gone.

"Here's the keys. Have her back by 10." She started to hand him the keys but snatched them back. "If I see one scratch on her, you're dead college boy."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, hand over the keys please."

She gave them to him. "I'm serious. Not a scratch."

"Promise. Thanks! See you at home!" And he ran off.

We laughed as we watched him go.

"He's such a dork."

"Yeah. And he'll be a dead dork if he scratches my car."

"Oh give it a rest."

"Hey, you got your guitar, I got my car. Now how would you feel if you loaned someone your guitar and when you got it back, there were scratches all over it?"

"I would be pretty ticked off."

"My point."

We stayed at the beach for a few more hours just talking, and occasionally checking out the hot surfers that walked past.

Em dropped me off at my house and said she'd text me later.

"I'm back!" I yell as I walk through the front door.

"In the kitchen, sweetie!" My mom yells back. I make my way to the kitchen.

But when I walk in, I see we have a guest.

"Aunt Liz!" I run over and give her a hug. Aunt Elizabeth is my moms younger sister who lives in the UK.

Oh yeah, did I mention that my moms side of the family lives in the UK? Yeah, mom's British and dad's American.

"Hello darling! How are you? Gosh you've grown so much since the last time I saw you!" Even though the last time I saw aunt Liz was like last summer.

Usually, every summer, our family vacation would consist of us going to visit Aunt Liz in the UK. She used to live in this cute place called Holmes Chapel. I remember this boy about my age that lived across the street. We'd hang out quite a bit. Man, what was his name? Henry? Oh well. But anyway, one year Emma came with us too. But then, Liz's fashion designer career took off and she moved to London. She now has shops all over the UK. Me and Em have actually helped her come up with new ideas.

"I'm great. Why didn't you guys tell me you were coming?!"

"We wanted it to be a surprise." My dad said.

"I wanted to be here for your birthday, but we had this big show and it was crazy and I just couldn't get away."

"That's alright!"

"But I still brought your present! It's the first of our new collection!"
