Chapter Six: Barbie and Mr. Asshole?
Sighing, i pulled my hood over my head, covering my dark hair as i walked through the leaves of the cemetry. I didn't even know why i was hear at 2 in the morning. Maybe it was just...Heck, i didn't even know. All i did know really was that i needed to see my dad, even if it was for a moment. I just needed to..Well, i don't know really. Seems like i didn't know a lot of things.
I glanced around the cemetry before finding the familar headstone.
I smiled as i crouched down, letting my fingers graze over his name. "Hi, daddy," I whispered as i fell back on my butt. "How are you?" I asked with a small tilt of my head as i wrapped my arms around my knees as the wind picked up.
I let out a small sigh before i decided to tell him everything that had happened to me before finally ending it with what me and Kase did earlier that night.
"I know it was bad. But he deserved it, dad. He's so mean to me and Kase and i don't know."
I sighed as i stared at the grey headstone before i reached forward, my fingertips grazing his name again as i smiled. "I miss you. It's not the same in our house anymore. Mom's never home and Brent's always angry. The only time he's not angry...is well, never. We all miss you, dad," I chocked up at the end as hot tears fell from my eyes.
"What did i tell you about coming here alone?"
I jerked around, running the back of my hand across my cheeks as i looked at Kase. My eyes darted down as i shrugged. "I forgot," I mumbled.
She gave a small chuckle before she walked over toward me, her boots crunching the crisp leaves before she stood behind me, her small hand resting on my shoulder. Somehow just that little gesture made me feel so much better. I tilted my head up to look at her and gave a smile. I knew by the look on her face that my smile didn't convince her of anything so instead she removed her hand and sat next to me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders before she looked over at my dad's headstone and she smiled.
"Hey, Steven," Kase greeted as she brushed some of the leaves away.
I looked over at her and smile a little before leaning my head on her shoulder. "I can't believe it's been three years today," I mumbled as i let my eyes fall close.
She let out a long sigh as she rubbed my back. "Yeah, me either." She was quiet for a while and i felt myself become more and more drowsy.
Cold hands touched my cheek while my shoulder was being softly nudged. "Come on, wake up, kiddo. It's almost time for school."
I groaned as i opened my eyes, squinting in the morning light. "I fell asleep, didn't i?" I asked as i looked up at Kase.
She shrugged but nodded nonetheless. "Yeah, we both did. But come on, we gotta get going," she stood up, taking me with her.
I let out a yawn as i rubbed my eye with my left hand while my other clutched Kase's jacket. "It's as long walk back to our houses, you know that right?"
Kase scoffed and i just knew she was rolling her eyes as she lead me away from my dad. I stopped then and turned around before running back and leaning down to kiss his tombstone. "Bye, daddy, I love you," I whispered before i turned and jogged back toward where Kase was waiting for me.
She gave me a small smile before looping her arm with mine and leading me toward a dark blue car. I raised my eyebrow and looked at her, a question clearly in the depths of my hazel eyes.
With a chuckle and a wry twist of her lips, she walked around the car and opened the passenger door for me. "I borrowed it from one of my friends," she said as i climbed in.
