Chapter Four: Deals are never good

Walking through the halls of Claremont High always gave me a sense of foreboding and a longing to run straight out of those doors and never return. But sadly my education was more important that the feeling of doom deep in the pit of my stomach.

People watched me pass, some with the eyebrows raised toward their hairline while others shook their head and looked away. I frowned some, looking down toward my sandled feet, ready to disappear again.

"Isn't it marvolous?" Kase threw her arm around my shoulders as we walked, her smile large and radiant on her face.

"What is?" I grumbled, annoyed by the stares.

Kase chuckled as she examined her nails on her free hand. "This. All these stares. Wanna know why you're getting them?" She wiggled her blond brows toward me.

I flinched slightly away from her. "What did you do?"

"Me? I did nothing, but a certain boy seems to want your undying attention," Kase moved her hand through her hair as she looked toward me.

I crinkled up my nose. "Who again?"

Rolling her eyes, Kase lead me to my locker. "This boy! He keeps asking about you. And Bram seems to be getting a little ticked," I could see the gleam in Kase' eyes.

I shook my head as i opened my locker, ready to just grab my books and go when a note catches my eye. Glancing around, i reach out for it, only to have it taken by Kase. "Give it, Kase," I held out my hand for her.

Her eyes found mine before she smirked and shook her head. "Nope!" She made sure to pop the 'p' in the word.

Rolling my own eyes, i leaned back against the locker next to mine. "Then read it out loud so i can hear it, kay?"

Kase looked over the note at me. "Fine. 'Waverly, come meet me tonight at the fountain so we may share first love's kiss' "

Blushing, i was about to snatch the note back when Kase bursted in a fit of giggles and handed the note back. "It's my science notes! You...you-you," I turned back toward my locker and shoved the note in my science book as Kase tried to recover from her laughter.

"Y-you should of seen the look on your face! Oh gosh, it was priceless!" She stated as she leaned back against the locker, wiping away an imaginary tear. "Priceless, i tell ya."

I rolled my eyes again as i picked up my books. "You're mean," I mumbled as i closed my locker shut and walked away.

"Awe! Lee, don't act like that. You know i love you and that's why i tease you," Kase walked beside me, her lower lip jutted out as she looked at me with large blue eyes.

"You're still mean."

"And you're still muh best friend," she reached over and pinched my cheek.

Slapping her hand away, we rounded the corner only for me to run into a solid wall. "Owwie," I mumbled as i rubbed my sore forehead.

Someone chuckled. "Here, let me help."

I snapped my eyes open and looked up. None other than Bram Cross stood in front of me. Oh, so he was the wall...

I quickly recovered from my episode as he bent down to pick up my fallen books. Glancing around, i caught a few people staring at his butt and i had to hold in my giggle.

"Bye, hon," Kase gave me a wink and soon left me, standing alone with /HIM/.

Bram straightened back up, holding all of my books in just one of his hands. I looked up at him, blinking my hazel eyes before taking them from him. "Th-thanks," I muttered as i tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
