Chapter 9

As soon as we stepped into the resturaunt I was astonished by evrything around me.

Even though I've been here quite a few times, being here never fails to take my breath away.

Crystal chandeliers and everything glowing around. It had the perfect atmosphere set with romantic  jazz music playing in the background. I swear I felt like I just entered a royal palace of some sort.

We were seated by the window with the view of the ocean trailing underneath us.

I had tipped the waiter not to announce that I had two reservations and it worked, he kept quite.

The appetizers came and I picked at it.

Blake studied me,"Everything ok?" He questioned

I nodded,"I'm fine."

We made small talk and talked about what's been going on in our lives.

Then that's when I saw him, Nicholas walked in the doors and I immediately ducked to the for before he spotted me.

"Ummm what's up Zoey?" Blake asked hunching down in his seat to meet my eyes

"Oh um  I lost my earring." I lied snatching off my earring and attaching it to the table

"Really?" He asked

"Yup." I lied again pretending to search for it

"Well I guess I mise as well-" he started to say

But I didn't bother staying to there to listen him, I quickly made my way over to the table were Nicholas sat at patiently.

I startled him when he saw me,"Zoey! Hi, I didn't see you there." He chuckled

"Hi."

"You two ready to order?"

Another waiter came to take our orders, I order creamy mushroom soup while Nicholas ordered Linguine with clam bites on the side.

"You have excellent taste." I told him as the waiter walked away

"Course I do, I do was raised I don't a proper family and every year I was taken to these cooking competitions. I used to watch then cook the finest dishes, and eventually I was the one making them." He admitted

"Wow I didn't know." I confessed

He laughed,"Where'd you think I'd go when I wasn't spending time with you?" He asked

I shrugged,"Places travling, trying on new clothes, sleeping I don't really know. I didn't occur to tome that you actually did anything fun. Your parents just seemed to be so strict." I said

He nodded,"True but they raised my and shaped me into the person I am today. I kinda kinda have to thank them."

"Yeah." I agreed

"I'll be back." I said

"Where you going?" He asked

"Bathroom." I replied before making my way back to lonely Blake.

I'm so glad their backs where facing each other it makes it easier to sneak around.

I sat in front of Blake and he frowned,"You disappeared for a moment, thought you ditched me for for a sec."

"Is woundn't do that especially to you." I promised

"That's a relief." He sighed

The same waiter came to take our order and she gave me a funny look probably recognizing me.

"You guys ready?" She asked

"Um yup I'll have the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream on top." I told her

"Dessert already?" Blake chuckled

"Of course." I smiled

"Right, um I'll take the special for today if that's all right. And also two drinks of mango ice tea." He ordered

I gaped,"How'd you know I love mango ice tea?" I asked

"I asked Aria." He confessed

"Oh that explains it."

After awhile I realized I had spent longer with him than Nicholas so I made my escape saying that I had recognized someone and wanted to say hi. Of course he fell for it being Blake and all.

I sat back with Nicholas who had occupied his time by folding the napkins into orgagami figures.

He placed a swan in front of me,"Cute." I laughed

"Just like you." He smirked

"Why thank you." I said

"Sooo tell me how's your brother he doing ok? He's not still skipping school is he?"

"Eh so so but he says he'll stop sooner or later."

"Huh I really thought he'd quit after  that incident..."He thought out loud

I frowned,"Stop what? And what incident?"

"Nothing." He answered quickly

"Are you sure? I'm not missing anything am I?"

"Look I promise I'd tell you one day but I don't think it's a good idea right now ok? Just know I'm trying to protect you." He said

"Nicholas what are you talking about? What are you so afraid to tell me about??"

"I said it's nothing all right, just leave it." He sighed

I eyed him once more,"Fine if you won't tell me just know I'll find out myself. I'm known for finding things out myself. So don't be suprised when I do." I warned

"Please Zoe I'm trying to protect you. Don't go sticking your nose into things it'll get you in serious trouble."

"Ugh you sound just like my brother." I scoffed

"I'm serious Zoe it's important that you stay safe." He said

"Yeah yeah like I haven't heard this before."

He looked at me with worried eyes eyes and was about to continue when our food came.

I started eating without hesitation and let the awkward silence sink in.

This is gonna be a long night.
