I pulled in and went straight to the back motel room. I could see a bit of sag in the roof and I knew insurance would not do anything until it was worst. However, a national incident happens and the government or a company would pay for repairs to keep down the press. It opened as he said and I seen them park as I shut the door. I could see I was not alone but I could tell it was part of my team. I had seen these same body shapes while storms rage around me in places long ago. I hugged John and the Sergeant as I started laying out the supplies that I had bought a few hours ago.
"I have been doing black ops since I left the large company I use to work for. I made a lot of friends and enemies, now I am a target. I need information from these men so that I know exactly what it was that I did to upset whoever is mad."
"Dan, you surprise me. I expected you would stay in the high stress business world not become the government spy and world troubleshooter. Now I have guns, but that is not your style so I also have my tool box." John said as he put his hand on a rolling tool box.
"It's heavy enough. Let's move it in front of the door. Throw the pillows in front of that window, and bolts and screws in front of that window. I will tape the bathroom window shut and we will be ready." I said then we went to work. "John, I missed you and the guys. There have been a few times I could have really used a few extra hands." Then as each of my three brothers did what is needed. I casually talked to them. "Maverick, how is your wife?"
"She is fine and is on sniper duty if one needs to be taken out. Also, we now have three young children. I bet you are still single." Maverick said as he finished his rope net to grapple the incoming intruders.
I nodded. "How did you guess?"
"You still dress tacky." Maverick said as he set his gun in place.
"Charles, how are you old man?" I asked as I patted him on the shoulder.
"I am on vacation and heading for the beach with my family. I stopped in here and we stayed long enough to rest from our day of travel. You know travel at night not during the day. Well as we were checking out, I heard your room request, sent my family on and I have my motorbike to catch up with. So after work I go on my way."
"Nice of you to join us. I am always glad to see you guys doing well. Now, I must have one able to talk. I don't want any dead and my guess is they are getting permission to open up on me and that means we need to stay behind things. Nobody get hurt." I said as Maverick tapped my shoulder.
"The Eagle says they just got out of the car and guns are out. She has tranquilizer darts ready and has clean shot. A second car has pulled up right behind them with four people. She is asking for permission to take out the last two. The have machine guns." Maverick said as he ducked down harder.
"As soon as they start, so can she." I said as John turned on the shower.
As soft knock on the door was are first moment of get ready. The tension was mounting and all the men were alert to every breath. Soon we were all breathing slow and steady at the same time. It made listening devices go crazy trying to isolate one person. I turned on the shower and crouched down with my brothers.
Since I did not answer, the door was tried. It was locked, just like it was supposed to be. Then one checked the right window while the other checked the left window. Both were unlocked on purpose. It was dark in the room and outside except the security lights in the parking lot. My people were ready to pounce.
The windows opened wide and since the shower was on, they were thinking that is where I was. So they started their sneaking in. Of course the floor obstacles caused an unbalance and I heard the soft shot of the dart take out two outside as our intruders fell to the ground with a tackle from a nearby man. A small fire fight erupted and shot up the front of the building and the lights. Maverick threw a wrench and hit one of the shooters in the head. Then the other one ran back for his car, only to drop with another dart at the door. The lights came on and the men realized they were trapped. All six men were dragged into the room and tied to chairs and our sniper stayed watch.
"Well I guess you are surprised. Now onto the main question. Who sent you? Now my friends here are all ready to take on their training to get information and of course, my shooter is still waiting to shoot you."
"We are just a contract team. We do not know who sent us, but you are to die. We ask no questions, just do the job. Killing Americans is what we do. That is the long and short of it." He said with all but one of his awake buddies staring at him.
"My turn, what country are you from?" I asked as Maverick tapped my shoulder. I pulled out my phone and called Andrew. Maverick was signing we have a patrol vehicle interested in our zone. "Andrew, call local law and tell them to stand down. I am at motel Dutch and we have our attackers. A few military buddies watched my back."
"Alright. Hang on." Andrew said as he dialed another phone and with that I handed my phone to John and headed to the door.
"Officer, I am coming out. I want to talk to you. I need you to listen." I said as I opened the door. The officer had his gun drawn and pointing at me.
"What's going on here?" He asked. "Stop right there."
I stopped. "It is car 4802. I am Dan Barns. I am on federal assignment with my team to stop terrorist with in the state of Texas. You will be receiving a call from your office, where my office is calling with the information. Please keep relaxed."
He called for backup. This was taking longer than I wanted. I was now standing in the wide open where I could get shot really easy.
"There is FBI on there way. Until they get here and I get back up, you will stand right there." the officer said.
