For the last two weeks everyone has felt very strange. Not necessarily sick. Just strange. Then something really odd happened. I was just sitting in the living room watching one of the rebel-run T.V. stations. (The only kind that exist.) When Adam came in and just messing around threw an empty bottle at me. But I looked up at it before it hit me. Then it stopped. About 5 inches in front of my face. It just kind of hung there. I hadn't lifted a finger. I started laughing, confused and amazed. Then Adam looked back and saw it.
"H-How are you doing that?" He exclaimed.
"I don't know! I'm not doing anything!"
I looked away from it, at Adam, and the bottle dropped to the floor.
"Are you feeling okay?" He asked me.
"Yeah. I mean I feel a little strange but it's become almost a normal feeling. had it about two weeks now." I replied.
"I feel weird too. Maybe we're just freaking ourselves out. You know with all the stress about the stricter laws."
"Could be I suppose. Can you do me a favor and not tell anyone?"
"Of course."
We went into the other room to see what everyone else was up to. Natasha was training with the Simulator, Nicole was listening to a rebel-run radio station, (again, the only kind left) and Gerard was in the corner furiously scribbling into his sketch pad.
"What you drawing, G?" I asked him.
"Can't talk right now, hold on a moment." he replied.
"alright..."
So the rest of us took our turns training. When I was done and Adam began, Gerard pulled me aside into the kitchen. (That's where people go to talk in private, since we rarely have food in the house, theres really no reason for people to interrupt.)
"Look at this!" He urged, shoving his sketch pad into my hands.
"Is that our house? That those two soldiers are breaking into? Why would you draw this?" I demanded. "We all agreed this place was safe."
"Listen to me, you have to promise you won't think I'm crazy, okay?"
"I'm listening." I answered hesitantly.
"Okay, so I was just sitting out there, watching Natalie train. Then all of a sudden I like, spaced out or something, but it was more than that. It sort of felt like a hallucination. I saw two soldiers break into our house, and after this image I saw them inside. I don't remember what was after... I'm not insane, right?" He looked at me like a lost puppy, he was searching my eyes for a reaction, hoping I wouldn't freak out or think it was made up. But I could see the sincerity in his eyes. And the fear. I took one of his hands in mine.
"I believe you." His face lit up right away. "You know something really weird happened to me this morning too, promise you won't think I'm crazy but..." then I explained to him what had happened with me and Adam. "I sound insane..."
"No you don't." He said. "After what happened to me, I believe anything."
"Well thanks for understanding, I'm really glad you're in our group. You always make me feel better and..." I looked down and realized I was still holding his hand. I began to let go and say "sorry" but before I could apologize, he leaned in and kissed me. He ran his hand through my hair. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed back. Like I said, I always loved him. After a minute or so, he pulled away, and slowly moved back.
"I-I'm sorry, it's just, I didn't, I didn't mean to, I'm sorry." He stammered.
I was about to say "It's okay" but then we heard loud banging on the front door and our friends scrambling around.
"We better go see what's going on." I said instead in panic.
"Let's go." He said, obviously still uncomfortable. I felt bad that I didn't comfort him by spilling my guts about my feelings for him; but we needed to see what was going on, it was obviously more important to make sure everyone was okay. Gerard ran to the window to peek through the blinds.
"The two soldiers! It's them, Fell. I told you!" he exclaimed.
"I believed you, I didn't think it'd be this soon though!" I replied.
"Me either!"
"I'd love to know all about what you two are talking about, but its kinda a bad time. We need to think of a plan." Nicole said aggravated.
Then the door broke down. Both soldiers had their laser guns out and ready.
"Nat! Duck!" Gerard yelled.
He must have remembered more of his vision. And thank god he did. She obeyed just in time. If she hadn't a laser would have hit her right in her heart. Gerard pulled out his laser gun and shot the soldier who tried to hit Natasha in the back of the head. He collapsed. The other soldier ran at Gerard and pinned him to the wall. He was trying to pull out a syringe from his belt but before he could, Adam attacked him from behind. Putting all the hours of training to use. They fought, and for a while the odds weren't looking too good. Until Nicole walked up behind them and hit the soldier over the head with a baton she took from the other soldiers utility belt.
"You were taking too long." She said simply.
Natasha ran over to Adam.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" She exclaimed.
He had a pretty deep cut on his face and some smaller scratches and cuts all over his arms.
"Yeah. I'll be fine." He replied.
"We're gonna have to get out of here. More are gonna come when these two don't return." Nicole said.
"We'll figure out what to do with them." Gerard said referring to him and Adam, pointing at the two downed soldiers. "The rest of you guys should start packing, I suppose."
We all nodded in silent agreement. I need to finish packing. Hopefully I'll get to update this again soon.
