My eyes were dry, my feet were sore- but I kept kicking them off of the ground, running as fast as I could. Everything felt like a blur, one second I was in Mrs. Wilson's class, the next I was running home. Running to Grandpa. Running for Grandpa. Running.

I ran up the stone stairs and abruptly stopped in front of the door. The sound of my fast-paced breathing filled the air, I gulped. I heard my heart beat in my chest, I wanted to cry- I just couldn't anymore. I bit my lip, running a hand throughout my hair. I looked at our house, how from the outside looked perfectly normal, but from the inside- was hell.

I was scared to walk into our house that was usually filled with laughter and comfortable silence. Filled with love, and loss. Too much fucking loss. We lost everybody, I lost everybody. I'm losing everybody.

My hand trembled as I turned the doorknob, I heard laughter coming from inside. My eyes widened as I recognized that laugh and my heart drowned. I quickly walked into the house revealing two people, one body.

Adrian's head snapped towards me as I ran into the living room, my eyes analyzed the scene- Roxy stood with a gun in her hand, her arms crossed as she looked down, laughing at my fallen Grandfather whose head was shot. Blood pooled across the rug, my eyes stayed glued to Grandpa.

I ran to his side, "No, Grandpa- come one! Please," I sobbed, I held him up, blood bled through my clothes, Adrian and Roxy stared.

I gritted my teeth, "PLEASE YOU'RE THE ONLY PERSON I HAVE LEFT!" I screamed at him, hoping he'd wake up from his never-ending dream. The ball in my throat tightened, as Adrian put his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. I wiped my tears, "You're sorry? YOU'RE STANDING HERE NEXT TO THE GIRL WHO SHOT MY GRANDPA AND YOU'RE SAYING SORRY?!"

"Ashlyn calm down, I tried to stop this- that's why I was texting you-"

"I walked in, and you were just staring at him, why didn't you grab the gun and kill her?" the tears flowed down my cheeks like a river.

Adrian shook his head, "Ashlyn you don't know what you're saying,"

I scoffed and turned towards Roxy who was smirking at our conversation before I could open my mouth and say a word she spoke, "Told you I'd get you back,"

I angrily stood up, "For what?" I lost my temper, "FOR WHAT REASON-"

"You don't even know what the hell you did, don't worry one day you'll figure out,"

"You're a fucking bitch," I spat on her face. She grinned, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. You see, you missed a lot while you had your week of fun here in this shithole. This is where everything fell apart, this is where you'll fall apart too. Eventually,"

"You're just lucky we have other things to deal with at the moment, otherwise you'd be in hell right about now,"

"You're going to hell right about-"

"Ashlyn." Adrian finally spoke. He shook his head and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"He knows not to mess with me, maybe you should learn too," Roxy said.

"She killed Ryan, she's the leader of Shadow now-"

"No," I breathed out.

Roxy pushed past me and made her way to the door, turning around she said, "Look around, everybody's dead. Your day will come soon, I'll make sure of it,"

Adrian looked back at me and I turned back to my dead grandpa. I heard him leave and I don't know how long I sat there. Just looking at my silent grandfather and wishing he'd just pop up and scream, "April fools!" I cried. It isn't even April.
