Chapter 11

My classes go by very slowly, and I am in a good mood because of my morning with Harry.

It felt amazing to get the Chloe thing off my chest, and to have Harry as my friend felt even better.

I am excited for after school, to see what the day brings me.

I am slightly disappointed when Harry doesn't arrive to pick me up, my mood only lessening when I have 0 new text messages in my inbox.

I feel like everybody's eyes are on me, just like they have been all day.

I call Natasha, and ask if I can ride with her today. She quickly accepts and tells me to meet her by her car and she'll be there soon.

Normally, I would just walk, but today I am in no mood to take the 20 minute walk home, especially because it's incredibly cold outside.

When Natasha arrives, she notices my distraught look immediately and I hope I am not too obvious to the rest of the world.

"Lover boy forgot to pick you up?"

I flush at her name for him, and I shake my head in an attempt to save the bit of dignity I have left for myself.

"He didn't say he was going to,"

"Aww, don't worry. He's probably in an interview or something,"

I shrug and then mentally scold myself, what the hell was up with my attitude?

"Get in the car my lovesick child, I've got to babysit Hunter so I can't hang,"

Hunter was her 6 year old neighbor, and I suddenly wish I was him.

God I hate Mondays.

As soon as I walk into the house, it smells instantly of chocolate chip muffins.

I am a tad bit excited because Eileen makes really good muffins, and I walk into the kitchen.

I am hoping that her baking can cheer up my lousy day. Baked goods are my comfort food.

I am surprised and highly disappointed to find the oven off, no muffins and a note from Eileen explaining why she was gone.

I discover that the smell is only the scent of a candle, but now I've got a craving for chocolate chip muffins.

This is one of the times I regret failing my drivers test, because it is chilly outside, and Dunkin Donuts is 4 blocks down.

With a downgraded attitude, I put my shoes back on and make the four block walk down to Dunkin Donuts.

After the guy in front of me recites his very long order, I am next on line. Ordering my muffin and a coffee, I grab some napkins and wait for my order.

Luckily, mine comes first and as I am wrapping a piece of cardboard around my cup, the order for the guy before me appears.

Instead of picking up his bag, he slides it over to himself and I react quickly, which splashes my scalding coffee over the top of my cup, and sends my muffin tumbling to the floor.

With my terrible day, my temper is short but I choose not to say anything because it was partially my fault. I am angry at my clumsiness, as I realize the horrid stain on my jacket.

I am more ticked off when the guy leaves, and I am left dabbing at the fleece on my jacket with the napkins I picked up earlier.

"Sorry, my bad,"

I look up at the guy who was in front of me, he is wearing a beanie and a long coat.

He hands me some napkins, which I accept quickly.

His nose is red from the cold and his five o'clock shadow gives him a more manly look.

"Here, you can have my muffin. I don't think my friend will mind,"

He's holding out a chocolate chip muffin. Normally I'd decline and get another one, but the line is long and I don't have the patience to wait on line, especially after my day today.

I accept his muffin, and I make the dumb mistake of smelling it. When someone offers me food, I always smell it.

I only realize after I lift it to my nose, that it throws people off.

The almond skinned boy chuckles, "Don't worry love I haven't poisoned it," I only realize his english accent now, not to mention he's really handsome.

I smile, taking a bite out of the muffin.
"Are you waiting for someone?"

"Yeah, a friend, and it's cold outside. So I came in," He answers.

He runs a hand through his hair, which is a jet black color.

"Are you sure your friend won't mind?" I lift up the muffin he gave me.

He smiles and shakes his head, "No it's alright, he's a more banana type of guy," he lifts up the bag, "and I've got that covered,"

I notice how he says "him" so his friend must be a guy.

This boy is lifting my attitude and with a smile I say, "What's your name?"

"Zayn. Just Zayn,"

Zayn? The name sounds a bit familiar, but I can't place my tongue on it.

"What's yours?"

Just as I am about to answer, I am instantly cut off by Zayn's phone.

"Hello? You're there already? No chill I haven't left, I'm at Dunkin Donuts. Okay, yeah mate I'm coming,"

I look up at him as he hangs up his phone. "I'm really sorry love, my friend's here, I'll see you around, yeah?"

I give him a sad smile and nod. He waves and I watch him run across the street and duck into a car which rides off as soon as it came.
