I walked out into the evening air. I was going over to Colby's cause he said he had a surprise for me. I was nervous, I mean what could it be?

I rang the doorbell and Sam answered

"Hey, come in" Sam said stepping aside. he yelled "guys DJ's here"

I saw there were bags of supplies sitting on the floor with food packed in and cameras and all that. Elton, Colby, Corey, Devyn, and Kat came down the stairs looking ready for a hike. I gave them confused looks and they just smiled back

"Hey where are y'all going"

"WE are going on an adventure, and you are coming with" Devyn said

I was about to speak when Elton turned on his camera and started talking

"Alright guy, this is DJ's first overnight video with us so we had to make it a good one"

"I'm sorry, what?" I said, genuinely confused

"she is coming with us to..................... THE ABANDONED MALL" Elton yelled to his camera

"SHE is not going anywhere with y'all crazy people" I said "I hate this kinda stuff"

"it's already been decided DJ, you're coming with"

"NUh uH"

"yuH HuH"

and thats how I ended up in the car driving to a creepy abandoned mall.

"shhhh" Colby whispered to me as he held me close. We were hiding behind a cement wall, waiting for the police to leave. I did not expect my Sunday night to be like this. Elton signalled for us to start walking.  Kat was holding onto Sam, I was holding on to Colby, and Corey was holding on to Devyn. We walked down a cement ramp to the entrance. When we walked over, we saw the doors were wide open

"Yoooo I don't know if we should do this? the doors are wide open, there's definitely people in there" Corey said

"Dude no we have to, it's DJ's first overnight" Elton said, walking forward with his flashlight in front of him

We all started to follow him when I yelped cause a branch fell. Everyone jumped and then shhed each other

"Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you" Colby said, pulling me even closer. I felt safe with him, and a whole other level of adrenaline hit me

We walked through the hallway and up the escalators. Soon we started to hear voices. It sounded like someone was whisper yelling and then a door slammed. Colby was gripping on to me, not letting me go. I tried to calm myself but my mind raced so fast. We made it to a set of stairs that led to the roof. We speed walked over and when we got up, as we were closing the door we heard someone below us yell HEY! we shut the door so fast and moved away from it.

"Alright guys it's just 1:00 am now, we have to stay here until 5 am. We have to be careful and not draw any attention. Now saying that, I did bring a football so lets have some fun" Elton said to us

"I have penny boards. But listen Elton if it gets too dangerous we have to leave. Last time was too close" Sam said sternly as he held Kat's hand

Just then a loud bang that came from below, with someone screaming 'help me'. Elton stood up with Sam, Colby, and Corey by his side

"Dude, someones down there, and I think they're in trouble" Corey said stepping towards the stairs. They all looked at each other and nodded

"Okay me, Sam, Colby, and Corey will go downstairs and you three stay here" Elton commanded

"No, I'm coming with" I said stepping towards them

"No DJ it's too dangerous stay here" Elton pushed me back. Without another word, they ran through the door and down the stairs to whatever might be lurking there. Me, Kat, and Devyn sat on the roof with whatever makeshift weapon we could find and listened for any sign of the guys. We waited for about 15 minutes until I heard Sam yelling for help. Kat jumped up and sprinted down with me and Devyn close behind, me with a metal pipe in my hand, Devyn with a wood plank, and Kat with a broken bottle.

"SAM I'M COMING" Kat yelled

We found them with Sam in a headlock by a guy I'd never seen. Everyone around them asking the man to let Sam go. He didn't see us approach, so I snuck up behind him and hit him in the head with the pipe. Sam was free, and without a word, we sprinted for the exit. We made it back to the car and drove as fast as we could, in silence.

Then I spoke up

"That was crazy... but oddly fun"

Everyone laughed

"welcome to our lives" Colby said, putting his arm around me and letting me rest my head on him

I think I'm gonna like this
