Chapter 5
When I awoke, I found my hands and feet tied and my mouth gagged. I tried to make out my surroundings. It was dark but I felt like I was in a... cage? Yep, there was bars around me. And it was jostling me everywhere. I was in a car. Suddenly I heard a voice.
"Ooh, the little princess is awake. The master will be happy to hear this." They started speaking into a walkie talkie type of device. But it wasn't English. It sounded more like a fish was speaking. Once they were done, I decided I needed answers. I managed to get the gag out of my mouth so I could speak.
"Who are you?" I demanded, trying to sound brave. But it was hard with a hoarse voice that wavered at the end.
My captor chuckled. "Feisty, are we? I am Lucinda of Atlantis."
I gasped. Atlantis wasn't supposed to exist. Lucas said that they had defeated them. He said that Atlantis was gone.
"Surprised? Guess you do know a bit of mer history after all. Well, tell me this. Do you know who the queen is?"
I shook my head, not knowing (or caring) if Lucinda could see me. Apparently, she could because she went on.
"Queen Kayla is your mother's sister. Her father, your grandfather, needed to choose an heir to the Aquartian throne. He chose Emeralda. Kayla got very angry and fled Aquaratis. She then formed Atlantis. We declared war on Aquaratis once we were strong enough. Kayla wanted to take back the throne. After all, it was- is- rightfully hers."
I rolled my eyes. "Where do I come in?"
"Well, you see, you are the link we need for King Richard to surrender. Then, Aquaratis will be ours!" Then, she started cackling like the cliche villain she was. Suddenly, the van came to a stop. "We're here!" Lucinda cried and shoved the gag back into my mouth. The back opened and I squinted in the harsh daylight. My cage opened and two men roughly pulled me out.
"Ooh, pretty one," one of the men said, eyeing me like a toy.
"No! I want her!" the other exclaimed. I gagged in disgust. These men were arguing over who could "have" me?
"Boys, boys," Lucinda said from farther inside of the truck, "You can both get a turn with her, but not until after the queen is done with her." A tall lady with a top and skirt made solely out of seaweed stepped forward. She had long, luscious, raven colored hair. Her skin tone was faintly tinged green. "Now, time to bring her to the queen." They tossed me into the ocean and jumped in after me. I felt the familiar transformation take over my legs. Lucinda dived in next. She tossed a chain with a single handcuff on the end to the first merman. "Landon, stick this on one of her arms and hold tight. Don't let her get away." She tossed the other chain to the second man. "Aaron, same."
They tied up my hands and pulled me along. We swam for about an hour until Lucinda said stop. She swam up to what seemed like a shield made out of water. She started warbling in that weird language she was speaking in earlier. Suddenly, a hole opened. She turned to us. "Hurry, quickly!" She swam into the hole and disappeared. Landon and Aaron swam forward, with me in tow. We went into the hole and we were transported to another place. I shook my head to knock off the dizziness. The first thing I noticed was that the water was darker. The second thing I noticed was that there was a large underwater city right below me. It was filled with merfolk flitting about. There was a big castle at the end of it.
