Lauren’s P.O.V

‘Whoa, Jamie chill! Now what’s going on?’ Meredith asked as she closed the kitchen doors.

‘I realise now where we’ve seen Ariel before!’ Mere and I looked at each other, then back at her.

‘Well, where?!’ I was getting impatient now.

‘Brosenthal! Remember how he always talks about his best friend, Ariel? How she got a scholarship to Julliard in New York? We’ve seen photos of her for goodness sakes! That’s where we know her from! And of course she doesn’t know who we are because we’ve never actually met her…’ Jamie finished looking at us expectantly. I was in shock. Could it possibly be her? Brian always talked about her. It was really obvious that he loves her or loved her at least. Brian did say they lost contact; I guess it was before StarKid.

‘How can you be sure?’ Mere asked.

‘Just look at her! Of course she’s aged a bit since the photos we’ve seen of her but look at her!’ Jamie, Mere and I peered around the corner to see her. Shiit! It is her! Her long brown, curly hair framed along her face where her bright blue eyes shone. Brian always said she was beautiful. He wasn’t lying.

Meredith ushered us both back into the kitchen. ‘Okay I believe you now. What do we do? We can’t just go up to her and go “Oh hey Ariel sorry we forgot to mention it but you are kind of in the living room of your childhood best friend who is in love with you, even though you haven’t spoken in about 2 years… oh by the way, want some apple juice?” now can we!’ Meredith was right. How are we going to deal with this?

‘Hmm true. That might freak her out a bit, especially considering she just went through such a dramatic Experience.’ Jamie added.

‘Why don’t we just wait for Brian to come home? That way they can have their romantic moment or whatever and before that we can figure out if she loves him back or not because I don’t know about you, but I have spent 5 years hearing  about this girl, I want to figure it out.’ I suggested. Meredith and Jamie quickly agreed and we went back to the living room where we saw Ariel getting pretty much interrogated by the boys.

‘Okay, to answer your questions: No, I do not have a boyfriend. My favourite colour is purple. I went to Julliard for college. My Hogwarts house is Ravenclaw. No I have no idea what “StarKid” is and no, Walker I will not go on a date with you.’ I have to admit, the girl handled that very well for a newcomer. Before the boys came up with more questions I knew I had to intervene.

‘Okay boys, back off. We don’t want to scare her away. We all know that’s happened before.’ We all shot a look over to Jim.

‘Hey. In all fairness it was Walker that decided to get the sling shot a fly the apple core.’ Jim put his hands up in an ‘I-didn’t-do-it’ position. I couldn’t help but laugh at Ariel’s confusion.

‘Either way.’ I continued. ‘Us girls are going to take over for now. So go do what boys do and stay out of the top living area!’

Ariel’s P.O.V

Thank god. I thought those boys were going to be the death of me.

‘So tell us about yourself.’ Meredith said as we sat down in the living room upstairs. Seriously, this place is huge!

‘Well, as you know I grew up in Michigan, Went to Julliard for college, got a scholarship. Um… my favourite animal is a squirrel (All the girls exchanged knowing smirks…was I missing something?) I love musical theatre, reading, my favourite type of cupcake is red velvet. And yeah, nothing really interesting... What is team StarKid? Because I keep getting asked if I know what it is and I don’t so…’

‘Well you, my friend have just met them! We run a musical theatre group called Team StarKid, it started in college. We have done 4 productions so far… A Very Potter Musical, a harry potter musical. Me and my Diick, I’m not going to bother explaining that one… A Very Potter Sequel, the Harry Potter’s sequel and lastly starship, which is pretty much the little mermaid in space.’ Lauren explained.

‘Oh that makes sense, wait… you did a Harry Potter musical!?! That is so cool! I love harry Potter!!’ I exclaimed.

‘Yeah, it was really the start of our company. We put it on YouTube and everything went nuts. But we want to know about you.’ All the girls shuffled closer.

‘What do you want to know…?’I asked cautiously. I don’t know why, but they seemed to want answers of some sort.

‘How old are you?’ Meredith shot the first question.

’23.’

‘What’s your full name?’ Jaime was next.

‘Ariel Rose Stevenson.’

‘Who gave you the locket?’ Lauren asked pointing at the locket Brian gave me.

‘Oh, um my Best friend Brian gave it to me before we went to different colleges.’

‘Awww.’ The girls admired my necklace reading the engravings: For my Airy Fairy. Still as clear as the day he gave it to me.

‘So is he your boyfriend or did you break up?’ Jamie asked. God these people ask a lot of questions…

‘N-No, just a friend.’ I answered. ‘We never dated. Just best friends. We lost contact a while ago though, he actually went to UofM as well, maybe you know him! Brian Rosenthal?’

‘The name rings a bell.’ Meredith smirked.

These words are my own. I love you. (Brian Rosenthal love story)Where stories live. Discover now
