My Best Friend

The Date

Emily's POV:
Mikayla is just getting here and it is 5:10 pm. She comes in, says hi to my parents, and then comes to my room. "Hey!" I say hugging her. "Hey, are you ready to start getting ready, that sounds weird but, oh well."  I laugh and say, "Yea! I was thinking this sundress since it is kinda hot outside.." I hold up a white sundress. "No. You gonna need something more than that.." Mikayla says walking to my closet. She pulls out a light pink dress with sleeves and white lace on the bottom. "THIS IS PERFECT" Mikayla squeals. I laugh and grab the dress to go put it on. I finish putting it on and walk out of the bathroom. "Omg! Em! You look beautiful!!" Mikayla says. I sit on my bed and do my makeup and once I finish I hear the doorbell ring. "HIS HERE!" Mikayla squeals. "SHH!" I say laughing. I decided to leave my hair down and I straightened. I put my glasses on and walk to the living room. Laine says hi to my parents and then says, "Ready to go?" With his arm out. I smile and grab his arm and say, "yep!" We walk out to his truck and he opens the door for me and I get in and buckle up. Laine gets in the driver's seat and we head off for our date. "So, where are we going?" I ask. "It's a suprise." Laine says. I smile and wait patiently. We pull up to a field and there is a blanket in the center with lights hanging in the trees, my mouth drops. "Laine! It's beautiful!" I say getting out of the truck. I take Laine's hand and he leds me to the blanket.
Laine's POV:
Emily and I finally arrive at our destination and it's safe to say, she loves it! We get out of the truck and I grab the picnic basket from the back seat. We go and sit on the blanket and I start getting the food out. "Laine you didn't have to do all of this for me..." Emily says. I look at her and say, "But I did ;)" she smiles and I hand her a slice of pizza. (Don't judge here... :D) I give her a bottle of coke and we begin to eat. "This is so good Laine. Thank you for bringing me here." Emily says smiling. I look at her and say, "You're more than welcome :)" after a few minutes of eating, drinking, and talking, we decided to just look at the stars. I clean up the food and pack it all back up. I then lay down on the blanket and Emily does the same. "Look! I spy an airplane!" Emily says. I laugh and say, "only you Emmy, could spot an airplane at night." She smiles and then she starts shivering a little. "Hey Laine, do you have an extra blanket or a jacket?" Emily asks. I shake my head and say, "No, why, are you cold?" She shakes her head yea and I move closer to her. I wrap my arm around her to pull her closer. She lays her head on my shoulder and she stops shivering. After a while of just sitting there, we decide to go home. Emily sat in the middle on the way back. While I was driving, she wrapped her arms around my arm and laid on my shoulder. I smiled and continued driving.
Emily's POV:
We finally get home and Laine walks me to my front door. "I had fun tonight Laine, thanks for tonight, I had a really great time." I say. Laine smiles and says, "Me too." I smile and then Laine steps closer, he looks from my eyes to my lips, he slowly starts to lean in, and so do I. Within seconds, our lips touched. After a few seconds, we slowly pull away. "I'll see ya tomorrow? :)" I say smiling. He laughs a little and says, "of course :)" I wave and then walk inside. Tonight was absolutely amazing!
