Part 18: Blood Serpent

The Kage Ryodan continued to set sail through the mist. Thanks to Seika, they were able to navigate safely through the rock canyons. Meanwhile, as they sailed farther in, the singing got louder. Around them were many broken and destroyed ships. Seika notices some large teeth marks on many. . .

Seika: Lets hope that that's not what I think it is. . .

A couple of hours passed, the singing was now loud and clear and they could see a faint glow ahead.

Natsuo: *looks through the binoculars. . . . . *gasp. !!!

Tabata: ?! What is it?!

Natsuo: I . . . I can't see anything. . .

Tabata: . . . Quit playing around!

Genji: *chuckles.

The ship follows the sound of the music, maneuvering around the broken ships. They come closer to the glow and once they get close enough they were able to see the problem.

Everyone: ?!?!

On a large platform of rock lay a siren. She was beautiful with long pale blue hair and a shimmering tail. Her face in agony and pain as she sang her song. A thick, long spear, pierced straight through her abdomen.

Asari: *shocked. That's horrible. Who would do such a thing?

Seika: *glares. The spear is pinning her to the platform so she can't move. We'll have to go to her. Hogai-san.

Hogai: *gets his tools. I'm ready.

Seika: Asari, you come with. The rest of you stand guard.

Once the ship got close enough, Seika, Asari, and Hogai got on a small boat and paddled to the platform. They quickly made their way to the siren.

Siren: *sees Seika, terrified.

The siren out of fear screeched out a different song, it sounded like a claw on a chalkboard and it rang everyone's ears.

Seika: *stings. Crap.

Asari: *holding his ears. Ngh! *sees the siren's face. She's scared but mostly in pain. *takes a breath.

Suddenly, Asari runs up to the siren and hugs her.

Hogai/Siren: *surprised.

Asari: *panting. You must be hurting right Don't worry, we'll help you, so don't be scared.

The siren stops crying and calms down in Asari's hold. She looks up hopefully at Asari.

Asari: *smiles. There we go.

Seika: *went into hiding, sighs. Good thing I brought Asari. I'll stay away from her view, you guys can work.

Hogai: *comes over. Alright, lets have a look at you.

Siren: *scared, holds Asari's hand.

Asari: Hogai-san will fix you up.

Hogai took out his tools and examined the wound. He worked efficiently, leaving no room for wasted movement. Asari and the siren watched in awe of his quick work. His hands moved swiftly and accurately as he applied anesthetics and pulled out the spear after breaking a large part off. He then applied some medicine and stitched her up then bandaged the wound. Everything thing was done in less than ten minutes.

Hogai: How do you feel?

Siren: *nods her head.

Asari: Thank goodness-

A sudden tremor erupted, the waves splashed violently against the platform. And a deep growl and hiss can be heard around them.

Seika: *looks darkly at the water. . . .

Asari: What was that- *looks at the siren.

Siren: *frantic, pulling on Asari's arm.

Asari: What is it?

Hogai: This sound, it's been awhile since I last heard it. . .

Asari: Hogai-san?

Unknown to the people, a long and dark shadow circled the area underwater. . .

Seika: A Blood Serpent.

Asari: *shock. What?!

Info: A Blood Serpent - A mystical sea serpent that has high intelligence; can be from 3000 feet to a mile; has dark red scales (hence the name); its head looks like a mix between a snake and a dragon; lures sailors to rock canyons so they could feed; they are lone individuals and are rarely seen in groups; feeding on strong people makes them stronger.

Seika: A few things make sense now, someone conjured the mist and pinned the siren here knowing that the Blood Serpent would use her as bait for sailors. This is all an elaborate trap to get us killed.

Asari: What should we do?

Seika: Denis and the others probably figured out what happened by now so I'm sure the ship is safe.

Siren: *trembling from fear.

Seika: I'm going to have to take it down but you guys are in danger here. . .

Asari: . . . . *looks around, idea. This canyon. . . If I remember the map correctly. . . *thinks back. Seika.

Seika: Yes?

Asari: 400 feet north then 243 feet east from here there's a cavern that we could hide in.

Seika: Eh?

Asari: I remember seeing it on the map.

Seika: I only showed him the map once and he memorized everything, that's amazing. Perfect! While I distract it, you guys run. Is there a tall pillar here?

Asari: There's one 267 west then 196 south.

Seika: Thank you~

Asari: *picks up the siren. Alright, we're going for a little swim, can you help us?

Siren: *nods vigorously.

Asari: Ok. Seika, do you need blood?

Seika: . . . I'm fine for now.

Asari: Be careful.

Seika: You too.

Asari, Hogai, and the siren jump into the water. Meanwhile, Seika stands alone on a higher rock pillar. The water in front of him trembles and an enormous figure rises above the ocean. The great Blood Serpent looks eye to eye with Seika.

Serpent: *hiss.

Seika: Heh. Challenging me? *eyes glowing. Bring it on!
