She's almost complete. Her circuits are finished, her wires are in place, and she looks nearly perfect. Her name is B-5120, a project I have been working on for a long time now. Her short brown hair drapes over her motionless shoulders, her screen was pitch black to signal she was turned off. She's pretty much done, I just need to clean her up and put in her power source. She is finished just in time, the deadline is tomorrow. At least, the deadline for her basic hardware. More complicated files and hardware had to be done when she was turned on and running.

I stare at her face. She looks so humanoid. Red lines run down her face. I grab a wet towel and try to wash them off, but the lines are already stains and I am unable to remove them. They give her a creepier vibe than intended. The rest of her body is made entirely of metal. Her torso is one giant piece of metal while her arms and legs are a bunch of slates of metal wrapped around the endoskeleton. On her torso is a heart-shaped hole with cracks protruding from it. This hole was where her power source was meant to go.

I turn to grab the power source, a glowing blue orb, and place it into the heart. Upon contact, B-5120's screen lights up.

Bright blue eyes flash on the screen. They blink a few times before B-5120 sits up. "𝙷𝚎𝚢 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎! 𝙷𝚘𝚠 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚢𝚘𝚞?" when B-5120 speaks, her voice is cheerful and slightly childish. It's not what I was expecting, perhaps I messed up the programming, but the voice she had was very caring and sweet and I liked it anyway. "Hello, B-5120. I'm just fine, really. How are you feeling?" I ask.

"𝚆𝚑𝚘'𝚜 𝙱-𝟻𝟷𝟸𝟶?" she asks.

"You are, silly," I smile warmly. B-5120 looks around, examining her surroundings. She looks at her hands and her legs and notices the metal plating. She looks down at the glowing heart in her chest. She looks back at me with a sad smile. Her eyes glitch out a little. Then the glitching becomes worse. One of her eyes disappear completely and gets replaced by the letters "𝙴𝚁𝚁." I look at her worriedly. "B-5120, are you okay?"

The glitching stops almost immediately at my words. "𝚈𝚎𝚜, 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎. 𝚆𝚑𝚢 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍𝚗'𝚝 𝙸 𝚋𝚎?"

I sigh with relief and take out my clipboard.

"Okay, B-1520, before I can power you back down, I need to run a few tests," I explain.

"𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚜, 𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎?" she asks.

"Basic tests. Walking, thinking, performing tasks, etcetera," I explain.

"𝚆𝚎𝚕𝚕, 𝚘𝚔𝚊𝚢! 𝚃𝚑𝚊𝚝'𝚜 𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍 𝚐𝚘𝚘𝚍!" she smiles.

"Good, can you stand?" I ask. B-5120 nods hesitantly and she pushes herself off the bed and stands. She's about 5 and a half feet tall, a little taller than I am. Her balance is good, I have her walk around the room and observe things while I take notes. "𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎, 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜?" she asks. She holds a piece of paper in one hand and points at it with the other. I take the note out of her hand and read it.

She didn't write anything else. Whenever I had looked at the note, I had started to cry but I had looked at it so much, that it didn't even affect me now. "It's a note from a friend. Just put it back,"

"𝙾𝚏 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎," B-5120 nods and grabs the note from my hand and puts it back on the shelf. I walk back to the bed and continue writing on my notepad. "𝙲𝚘𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚎, 𝚠𝚑𝚘'𝚜 𝙱𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚛𝚒𝚌𝚎?" B-5120 wonders.

"She was a friend of mine," I sigh.

"𝚆𝚊𝚜? 𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚑𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚑𝚎𝚛?" she asks.

"She-," I falter, "She died."

"𝙰𝚠𝚠, 𝙸'𝚖 𝚜𝚘𝚛𝚛𝚢." B-5120 walks over to me and pats me on the back gently.

"It's okay, I'll see her again soon." I smile.

"𝚈𝚊𝚢!" she cheers happily and gives me a big hug. I give her a big smile.

"I think you're doing just fine. I think we can stop testing now," I explain to B-5120.

"𝙳𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚖𝚎𝚊𝚗 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚜𝚑𝚞𝚝 𝚖𝚎 𝚍𝚘𝚠𝚗?" she asks.

"Afraid so. It'll only be for a little while, I'll see you tomorrow okay?" I say, "Go lay back on the bed and I'll turn you off."

"𝙾𝚏 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎," she complies and lays down on the bed. I walk over to her and take out the orb and words appear on her screen again.

Now that she was finished, it's time to work on the hardware to give her emotions of her own. I sit down at my desk and scroll through the files I had been working on for a long time now. Different files move from the bottom of the screen and disappear at the top. I plug B-5120 into my computer with a USB cord. I click on a few of the files and click EXPORT TO and select 𝙱-𝟻𝟷𝟸𝟶 𝙳𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎. Three lines of text appear on screen.
