After college, I went to work again. All my colleagues greeted me with big smiles. They were happy I was back after my absence following Sophie's death. It was a busy day again, and after college, I was tired. A wide smile appeared on my face when Liz walked in. As usual, I took my break and we went to sit at a table for two. We talked about school, about work and about vampires. According to her, there are different kinds. You have the chiropterans, who have the ability to transform themselves into bat-like creatures. Liz told me she is a chiropteran. Then you have the immortals. Well, they are not truly immortal, but they have a very long lifespan. Some of them are over a thousand years old. Then there are the lycans or werewolves. although they aren't generally seen as part of the vampire family. There are also the dark angels, who, just like chiropterans, could spawn wings, Although the main difference is that dark angels have black angel wings instead of bat-like wings. And lastly there are the psychic vampires. They don't drink blood, but drain you of your energy like succubus and incubus. There are, of course, hundreds of other species among vampires, basically every humanoid blood drinking creature is deemed a vampire, but those she just recalled, are the ones living in this area.

After some more talking, I decided to bring up our kiss last night. "Yeah, sorry about that." She said. "I didn't mean to cross any boundaries." I looked at her a little shocked. "What are you talking about? I liked it. And I kissed you, remember?" she chuckled a little. "Yeah, I liked it to. But, I mean that will not be easy. What If I loose control and completely drain you? And with my line of work, I have a lot of enemy's. You would be an easy target." I looked at her. I understood her words, but I didn't like them. "Look, I don't care. I love you, i have loved you since the day I saw you." There was a sadness in her eyes as she sighed. "Tay, right now it's too dangerous. Look, we'll lay low for a while, and when we have our killer, then we'll see what happens." "Alright, have it your way. Just make sure you get him soon." I said. "Now I have to go back to work." I stood up, put my apron back on and went back to the bar. It was a long and tiering day, and I couldn't wait to go home.

That evening, I got a text from Liz. 'Hey, Tay. I'm sorry about today, but it's too dangerous. I don't want you to get into trouble.'

'Yeah, I get it. But it still hurts though.'

'When this is all over, then we'll talk. We'll figure it out somehow.'

I looked at the scar on my hand and remembered the night at the crypt. I realized I should tell her about it.

'Hey, there is something I need to tell you. I don't want to do it over the phone. Could you come over some time?'

'Ok, that sounds serious. Are you home at 9pm?'

'yeah'

'All right, see you then.'

The next evening, I was home alone. Teresa was with Ben, so I had the place to myself. I was enjoying a nice cup of tea when the bell rang. I walked to the front door and opened it to find Liz standing there. I let her in and we went to sit at the kitchen table, where I offered her a cup of tea as well, which she accepted. After I poured her a cup, I went to sit in front of her, and she looked at me expectantly. "So, what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" She asked. "It's about the scar on my hand. About how I got it."

I told her about that night in the crypt and about the dreams I've been having. About the murders, about her being a vampire and biting me and about them all coming true in some way.

She stood up and started pacing in the kitchen. I could see the anger in her eyes. "You fool, didn't you realize how dangerous it was, entering that tomb?" "Hey, I'm sorry, we were drunk. And I didn't know we were awakening some ancient creature." She sighed in annoyance. "I'm not talking about that. You entered and old tomb, which for all you know might have collapsed. It's been there fore ages, you have no idea what time can do. Second, you opened a coffin. You don't want to know what kind of bacterias are in there. And third, you cut yourself on an old, rusted, piece of metal. What if your wound got infected? You could've been in serious trouble. You could've lost your hand, or even an arm, or even die maybe." She sat down again and buried her face in her hands and sighed. "Just promise me you won't do anything stupid like that again." I looked at her, feeling really ashamed of my self and my stupidity. "I promise." I whispered. "Alright," she said. "What did the corpse look like, was it decomposing?" "No" I said. "We were astonished by how well preserved it was. I mean, he looked really dehydrated, but apart from that, it didn't look like he was dead for that long." "I see, now take me to the crypt, I want to see it for myself."

We went outside and stepped into her car. It was a black and red ford mustang. God, I love those cars. It had leather seats and a metallic dashboard. She started the car, and the engine roared aggressively, making a wonderful sound. She put on the radio and Cradle of Filth started to blair out of the speakers. This woman definitely has some good taste when it comes to music.

Shortly after, we arrived at St. Mary's church and we walked straight to the entrance of the crypt. Igniting our flashlights, we went down the stairs and came into the main room. I never thought I would be here again. We walked up to the vampire room and saw a coffin without it's lit. When we looked into it, we saw it was empty, except for the stake that was lying in there. "Definitely a vampire grave." Liz said. "We always assumed that the one attacking Whitby was a residential or someone who just moved here. We never thought of the possibility it could be a resurrected one. Damn it, we're so stupid." "I always thought ah vampires would die if you staked them." I said. She looked put at me. "Not necessarily, only if you stake them right trough the heart. If you stake them anywhere else, they only get paralyzed." I nodded. "But won't they die of starvation, then?" I asked. "Depends. If they are paralyzed long enough, they will eventually die. But one of the main reasons vampires can get really old, is because we have the ability to hibernate, which comes in really handy when we can't get blood in time. That way we can sleep for decades, centuries even. When you removed the stake, and when your blood dripped into it's mouth, it was enough to revive him." "I see" I said. we looked around for some more. "Tell me if you find a name." She said. "We need to know who this is." After some time of fruitless searching, we went back to the car. "Let's call it a night, we won't find anything here. I'll take you to my office tomorrow." "But I have school tomorrow." I protested. "We'll write you a sick note." Liz said with a smirk on her face.
