"Lane I am telling you, you have to meet Henry, he is sweet and funny, and He's a potential Korean Doctor he's everything in yours and your mom's book." Rory said excitedly as they sat in Luke's diner. "Well I guess I would be okay meeting him next weekend when I spend the night." Lane finally agreed. "Good let's walk" Rory said as she pointed towards the town square. As they walked towards the gazebo in the center Rory caught a glimpse of a tall handsome boy. "Hey Lane who's that?" Rory asked curiously. "Oh that's Dean, the new kid." Lane smiles as she saw the guy staring at Rory. "He's really cute." Rory admitted. "I'm sorry I've got to go if I'm late again my mom is liable to send me to Korea." Lane laughed running off towards her house. Rory looked at her watch and noticed she still had about an hour before Lorelai would be off work and Richie was at the inn playing with Sookie and her husband Jackson's son Davie who was just a couple years younger than Richie. So Rory decided to sit on the bench in the town square and read Moby Dick. Dean walked up to her. "Good book?" He asked as Rory looked up. "Yeah, pretty good." "So I haven't seen you around school." He stated. "I don't live here in Stars Hollow." She laughed. "I live in Hartford and go to Chilton. My mom runs the Independence Inn." Rory said as Dean sat next to her. "I've noticed you around town a lot." He added. "Yeah I hang out with my friend Lane sometimes while my mom works." Rory said politely.  "Well I got to get to work I work at Doose's maybe I'll see you around sometime." He smiled and Rory got butterflies. "Yeah, maybe." Rory smiled back.
"So you're going to Stars Hollow this weekend to see Jess right?" Rory asked Paris curiously at lunch the following day. "Yes, why?" Paris asked a bit annoyed. "Well I was just thinking maybe I could tag along, mom's off this weekend but I wanna go to Stars Hollow." Rory said. "Who's the boy?" Paris asked. "What boy?" Rory asked innocently. "The boy you wanna go see, you never ask to go with me when I'm going for a date with Jess, and I assume you're not trying to tag along on the date." Paris laughed. "You're mean." Rory laughed back. "No his name is Dean he works at the super market." Rory finally admitted. "Plus then we can bring Lane back for a slumber party at my house." Rory smiled. "Okay, fine. I'll just have the driver pick us up at your house then." Paris laughed as Rory joined her.

"So, what's new kid?" Lorelai asked coming into Rory's bedroom one evening. "Not much just studying." Rory said not looking up from her book. "Really? Well Miss Patty from the dance studio in Stars Hollow said she saw you sitting with a boy in the town square." Lorelai said sounding amused. "He's just a friend." Rory said firmly rolling her eyes at her mom's semantics. "A tall handsome friend?" Lorelai asked the humor growing in her voice. "Mom, what's the deal?" Rory asked sounding irritated. "Calm down just asking what mom's ask." Lorelai replied. "So, I'm going with Paris on Friday afternoon to see Lane and Jess and after Paris and Lane are coming over for the night is that still okay?" Rory asked hoping her mom didn't catch on. "Yes that should be fine." Lorelai said leaving Rory's room.
The rest of the week went by pretty fast and other than Tristans annoying antics was a pretty good week. As Paris and Rory headed to Stars Hollow Rory finally asked Paris. "Hey what do you think Tristans problem has been here lately?" "Oh come on Rory, he likes you he has for a long time." Paris said in her serious tone. "No he doesn't, he's been messing with me and calling me the wrong name all school year so far." Rory said. "Exactly, he noticed you more so this year than he had." Paris said in an obvious tone. Rory was silent the rest of the way to Lanes house.
