This book is the result of a simple challenge. I made it my resolution to record my thoughts and feelings and memories each day via the use of poetry. One poem, one thought, one feeling, one story--anything to prove that each day is one worth living and remembering. After all, none of us are really given enough of them.
I haven't posted the poem I came up with each day, obviously. It's a concept I abandoned fairly quickly. Some just kind of sucked. Other days, my mind and body felt too exhausted to put words down. Writing a poem a day was an experiment that was just a little difficult to make a reality.
A few were worth keeping. Those are the ones wrapped in a snuggly cloud and sent to you!
Most poems are free-form and make liberal use of imagery and description. If adjectives and adverbs are not your cup of tea, you may not enjoy this as much as I wish you would. Keep an open mind while reading, please. The sweetest delights are the most unexpected.
I've been told by many that no one reads poetry these days and my time would be better put to use on a quality work of fiction.
I think those people are wrong. Perhaps this is the experiment that will back me up. I am, however, working on that quality fiction as well. I hope to at least branch out into short stories in the future.
This work may contain adult themes and mature language. It may also discuss sex, violence, and other things our society says we must dub with warning labels. I'm not sure why. It's all part of the human experience.
However, young people these days understand and experience far more than we give them credit for. People live life beyond warnings and advisories. Life is full of mature content. I don't provide a rainbow cloud to protect anyone, but I do decide to raise my glass of champagne while the city burns.
This book falls somewhere between PG-13 and R. I'm not sure where, as it's a work in progress. I have not yet marked it as mature, although it's definitely not bedtime story reading. It has deep thoughts and uncensored emotions.
