Creeping out from the couch, I searched the bottom floor. First place to look: the closet. Instantly, a bat appeared to my eyes in the surrounded darkness, as if magic.

I snatched the bat, thinking of Brandon.

I spun on my heel and bumped into someone.

"Sorry," we murmured at the same time.

"What are you doing with the bat?"

"Brandon, I am just grabbing it for protection,"I lied.

"Protection?"

"A few of my last foster families had problems. I used bats for protection."

With that, I scurried over to the couch, and placed the bat under me as I slid under the blanket.

Brandon walked away, clearly deep in thought.

I ran, ran faster than lightning from the car, clutching the bat for dear life.

The alarm went off when I had finished off the headlights and gave the hundredth dent.

I ran proud, then like a chump when I realized that I was still on probation.

Careful not to make a sound, I approached the door. When I couldn't open it, struggle after struggle, I gave up. I touched the window slightly, when it gave, I pushed it open, quickly and quietly slid through, shutting it behind me. I pried the bat in my grimy hands, before returning it to the closet.

I fell back to sleep easily, happy to do one of two on my list.

When I was shaken awake, the news was blaring from the tv.

"Morning."

"Yeah, great one. I just love being shaken awake,"I snapped under my breath.

I zoned in to the breaking news banner.

"A wreck less teenager beat Robert Quinn's car into smattering pieces. The rode side cameras were useless. The car has ten dents in the trunk, four on the roof, seven on each door, each mirror is cracked, the remains of the windshield is glass everywhere, the wipers are no where to be found-"

I smirked, my mark had been made.

If that bastard wanted to leave me like I never existed, then that's how I'll play.

I couldn't have done it, I don't exist.
Hopefully the psycho sees it that way.
