I was slightly chocked at this, but there have been cases like this before so it was something I was expecting. "Does the patient already know about this?" I asked, I surely didn't want to be the one to break this to them, especially Stacy. She was such a sweet girl and didn't deserve any or this. "No, I think it'd be best if you were the one to tell them about this. I believe you've developed somewhat of a relationship with her." he says. Great, just exactly what I wanted. 'Yes sir." I took the results sheet, grabbed two bars of ice cream and knocked on the door. "Come!" I heard Stacy say. This was going to be very rough on me to do this. I walked in, "Hello there princess, I brought ice cream." I said as I handed them both their pops. They started eating their ice cream but it didn't take long for Logan to ask about the results. "Yes I have them and Logan may I speak to you in the hallway?" I asked. I needed to tell him first before Stacy that way he can at least give e a little advice on how to break the news to her, or even better, offer to tell her himself. He nodded and we both took a step into the hallway.

"What's wrong?" he asked with concern all over his face. "Her results are back but I'm letting you know now that you'll need to be understanding about this." I said. He nods and motions for me to continue. "Okay, so the blood test showed that Stacy produces an abnormal about of white blood cells." He looks a bit confused,"So what does that mean?" he asks. I sigh, this is a lot tougher than I believed so. I remember when the nurse told my family that my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, everyone was heartbroken to find this out. I had to be strong for my mother, because everyday she'd remind us, "Be strong for mommy, be strong and I promise you I'll make it through this." She died seven years later, I was only 13 when she died and she was only 38.

"It means that Stacy, she has leukemia." I said. I felt a lump in my throat as I said it. It almost felt like my whole body was on fire. As soon as I said it I saw his whole body collapse, he just looked at me and then at the ground. He was on the verge of tears. "I'm so sorry Mr. Wright. We already have the treatments set for her, you'll just need to schedule an appointment in when to proceed with them." He didn't respond, he just leaned on the wall as tears started pouring from his eyes. 'So you're telling me that my only niece has cancer and not only that, but it's leukemia." he said with an emotionless voice. I nodded, I couldn't speak. I felt so bad for this poor girl, she had her whole life ahead of her and now it'll all be focused around hospital treatments and sickness.

He wiped his tears off his face, "Alright, I'll let her know." He opened the room and walked in 'Hi sweetie." he said as if nothing is wrong. I followed and smiled at her, but she knew something is wrong. "What's happening to me?" she asked full of fear. "Well, you're sick." Logan said. Stacy looked a bit confused, I decided to step in, "Stacy," Logan looked a bit shocked when started to talk but he let me continue anyways, "you're very sick. So the doctors are going to make you feel better. You want to feel better right?" She nodded. 'Okay, everyone just needs you to understand and be a strong girl okay?" She just nodded and gave me a smile. "Good." I started walking out the door, "I'll check you into a better room." I said and walked out.

I saw Amy come out of elevator, "Hey Kris." she said. "Hi Amy." She bumped me with her hip, "How's it going with you-know-who?" she asked and winked. "Terrible." I said and handed Tina the blood results and told her the file. "I'm going to lunch." I said. 'What do you mean terrible?" she asked,"Is he married?" I sighed, "No, but I had to tell him the wonderful news that his daughter has cancer." Amy and I signed out for lunch.

"That's horrible.'

"I know it is,"

"Do you think she's gonna make it?"

"I hope so, she's a strong girl."

We both walked into the hospital cafeteria, grabbed our lunches and sat down. I noticed that there wasn't a lot of people in today. Usually the hospital is at least a little bit packed. I guess it's a good thing that there isn't too many people though. "So on a happy note, are you going to try and get with him?" Amy asked. I playfully hit her, "Ouch! I'm just asking! Because if you're not then that means I can." I laughed and shrugged. I would actually like to, but I planned on waiting. He just found out his niece has a deadly cancer, the timing isn't exactly right. "Maybe, I'll just have to see." we sat and enjoyed our lunch break and soon headed back to work.
