Who's That Dude?

Diamonique/Diamond's POV

It's been three weeks and me and Jacob having been hanging out everyday. Every time it come home, my father looks at me and just walks away from me and I really don't care if he is mad. But, I wish I could just get him to understand that this a friend and nothing more but, who am I kidding? He will never understand, as long as his skin is black, my dad will never change.

Jacob's POV

It's great being back home and the best part is being with Diamond or Diamonique. I never thought for being away for two years that I missed a lot of things down here in Florida. But, it's not all good down here either. Her father doesn't accept me because of my skin color but, in the future, what if she wants to marriage someone not in her race? I don't know what he going do if she does, all I know is I'm going stay her best friend and I'm not going anywhere no time soon.

I got up this morning and took a long, hot shower. When I got out, I heard a noise downstairs. I quickly threw on my clothes and ran downstairs. Once I hit the last step, my father was yelling at the top of his lungs, and he was yelling about me. He didn't see me so, I went to cover and just eavesdrop on his conversation with my mother. "I don't care if she likes people out of her race, she's not about to date anybody as long as their black." "Joseph, I think she should be able to date anyone she wants to." "Honey, I just don't trust him." "What has he done for you not to trust him?" "Bringing her home late." "She's 17. She is almost grown." "I don't care if she is 30, she is my little girl and I'm not about to let anybody hurt her." I stood there, with tears in my eyes, the words my father just moved me. I walked up the stairs and went in my room. I closed the door and looked at myself in the mirror. As I stared at myself, I examined my chocolate colored skin. Not too light, not too dark, I adored my medium skin tone, in the most healthy way. While admiring my body, my phone began to ring. I looked at the caller I.D. and it was Jacob. "Hello?" "Hey, what you doing today?" "Nothing, what's up?" "I got these two tickets for this concert tonight, wanna come?" "Depends. Who is performing?" "Um, Chris Brown; August Alsina; and Trey Songz." "Really?!" "Yeah, so, you coming?" "Of course. When does it start?" "At nine." "Okay, I'll be ready before then." "Okay." I was jumping up and down because I couldn't get these tickets and they were sold out but luckily, my best friend had an extra one.

Jacob's POV

Man, what are her parents going to say when they see me? Why can't this be easy? Why do I always get disrespected when I go over here? My mom accepted her, why can't her parents do that? I threw on a black shirt and some jeans and my J's and my Chicago Bulls hat. I grabbed my phone and left out the room. While in the kitchen, I found a note one the fridge from my mom. It said: Sorry, honey. Working late tonight again. If you need anything just call me. Love you, Mom. I swear she is working late every night. God, I just want to get this night over with, so, here I go to my best friend's house.

Diamonique/ Diamond POV

I was still excited that I'm going to this concert and my man.....Trey Songz is going be there. While looking in my closet, I began to get a knock on my door. "Yes?" "Diamond, it's me." "Who is me?" "Your dad." "Come in." He opened the door and gentle closed it behind him. He sat on my bed and started talking. "Sweetie, I'm sorry." "For what?" "Well, I'm sorry for treated you like that. Not accepting you and your friend. I just wanted what's best for you." "Dad, I'm not in a relationship with anybody, even if I was, I would make sure that they are good to me." "I know." "Dad, may I ask you a question?" "Sure." I walked over to him and sat next to him. "Why do you have a problem with people out of your race?" "I don't. It's just my dad told me I couldn't date any one outside my race. I just wanted to follow in my father's footsteps." "Dad, you have to understand, no matter who or what race I'm dating, it won't change anything." "I'm sorry, sweetie." "Oh daddy, it's okay." "Do you forgive me?" "Yes, of course." "I love you, sweetie." "Love you too, dad." I gave him a hug and I was glad we worked it out. He left out the my and began to look for an outfit for tonight. I got a red shirt and some jeans with some black Jordan's. The only thing that was missing was Jacob.

After an hour, I heard the doorbell ring. I grabbed my phone and headed downstairs. When I got down there, my dad had opened the door and I saw how Jacob stood there in fear. "Jacob, how are you doing?" "Um, good Mr. Brown." "Just call me Joseph." "Okay.... Joseph." "So, where are you two going tonight?" "Um, a concert, dad," I said interrupting their conversation. "Well, what time does it end?" "Um, midnight but were going get here before then." "Good, well, have a good time." "Well, goodnight Mr. and Mrs. Brown." "Goodnight, have fun you two." I waved goodbye and left out the door. "Wow, did that just really happen?" "What?" I said looking at him confused. "Your dad is being nice to me." "Well, we just had a little talk about it and he said he would change and I guess he did." "So, you ready?" "Yeah." He had opened the door for me and jogged around the car and got in. The whole time there, we were laughing and talking about the past. When we got there, it was crowded. Going around in circles to find a parking spot, someone had pulled out and we hurried and got in it. I stepped out and could all ready hear music playing. "Damn, were so far away." "Yeah, well, come on, I got to see my man." "Who?" "Trey Songz fine ass. So, let's go." "Fine." After the concert, I was so ready to go home. As he was driving me home, I could barely keep my eyes open. "Hey, your sure you don't want to just spend the night over my house and I drop you off in the morning?" "I fine." "You look really tired." "Fine, just drop me off at nine, okay?" "Yeah."
