"I'm getting out of here."

It only briefly ran through her mind that confiding in Negan's wife wasn't a brilliant idea, but the thought slipped as quickly as the words from her mouth.

Sherry paused for a moment, sharp black nails dancing along the brim of her wine glass. She didn't seem surprised, but she wasn't overjoyed, either. "I'm not sure that's a good idea. Negan is smart, Winona. What will you do if he finds you out there?"

"I can't sit around and wait for something to happen." Winona frowned and brought her nails to her lips, blowing gently on the damp polish. Bright red. It was a cliche and girlish thing to do, but relaxing to lounge and talk about nothing. It was something she never did in her teenage years. Sherry stood out to her the most, out of all the wives, sweet as honey and beautiful all at the same time. The type of girl that wouldn't give her a second glance in high school.

"That's fair," she mumbled and looked down. "I can't say I haven't thought about it."

"I would be surprised if you didn't."

"I don't think I could leave him." She didn't have to ask to know she was talking about Dwight. "But at the same time being around him is only hurting me."

"Your love is rare. Believe me, even Negan can't come between you two forever." She truly believed that. She'd seen the way she looked at him, the way she talked about him. It was seldom love like that stuck around even after the world went to shit. She'd seen it a few times. Rick and Michonne, Glenn and Maggie.

"That's how it feels."

"The only thing I'll regret is not seeing Negan's face when he finds out I'm gone." She probably looked smug, grinning down into her glass. Negan was easily the most complicated person to come into her life – sadistic, crass, an absolute asshole, but extremely handsome. He might have been rude, but he was interesting to talk to, and genuinely interesting people were hard to come by. She looked forward to their conversations yet didn't mind slipping away without another word, never seeing him again. Either way, drinking around him probably wasn't a good idea.

"Uh huh," she teased, a purse on her lips. "How come you two disappeared together the other night? Frankie and I were looking for you."

Winona swallowed and looked away. "He wanted to show me something."

"And?"

"And what?"

"You were gone the whole night. What did he have to show you that was so important?"

She sighed and threw back her glass, chugging the rest of her drink. "He gave me my notebook back, the one he took from me the day I got here." Sherry nodded, urging her to continue. "And then I made out with him."
