Layken felt her heart race, she was so excited. Yesterday, she talked to Justin, again. And they planned to meet today at Layken's at 9. And it was almost 8:30. They would go to 'Clydes Food'.
Layken opened her wardrobe, but couldn't find anything to wear, as usual. Then, she remembered that new dress her mom had bought her. She told her, that she would never wear something like that, it was too short. But when she looked at it now, the red dress seemed like the perfect clothing for her 'date' with Justin.
'Layken, I need your help'.
Her mother.
'Mom, I'm sorry, I'm in hurry, I don't have time for you.'
When Layken turned around to face her mom, she saw that her mom, Emily, had tears in her eyes. 'Mom, what's wrong???', Layken asked with worry in her voice.
'Nothing', her mom said, waving the tears away.
'Its just..You look so beautiful, sweety. You're not a kid anymore. Not my baby'...
'Oh, mom, of course I'm your baby! I love you.', Layken said, hugging her mother.
'I love you, too, Layke', her mother said, hugging her back.
'Who is it?', Emily asked finally.
The question that Layken was afraid of.
'Umm.. I don't know yet, mom.'
Her mom looked confused.
'Okay, you're going out with a guy you don't know.
I guess I'll never understand kids from today', Emily said.
'Just, take care of yourself, sweetie, okay?'
'Okay, mooooom', Layken sighed.
'Soo.. I'm going to the book-club.
If you should need anything, just call me, okay?'
'Okay. Bye'
They hugged each other for one more time, then her mother was out of her room.
Layken was just finished with her make-up and her hair, which was put in a high ponytail, when she heard knocks from the door. She looked at her watch.
Exactly 9pm.
Sha ran downstairs and opened the door.
