Chapter 14: two little accidents makes a big one

Suddenly I felt someone shaking me real hard, I just had to wake up. When I opened my eyes, there I saw, Alvan sitting beside me, calling me to wake up. 'okokok, if u continue shaking me like that, you can even probably wake up the dead' he rolled his eyes and told me it was already 6. So I knew my mum would probably be on her way to work now and I'm just so bored at home now. Alvan suggested going out but I was just so tired and lazy. So I asked Alvan for any other suggestions, he also suggested going for a movie then we would eat lunch, I thought it was a great idea because I wanted to watch a movie so badly although I just watched it yesterday. But the thing is I don't even know what to watch. Alvan suggested that we should watch transformers so I agreed.

I told him to wait for me downstairs while I change into something. I wore my cropped tee and a pair of shorts, I brought my old converse and ran downstairs with it. I told Alvan he should probably go home and change into something before going for a movie. So now, we're on our way to his house. I waited for him in the car while and rushed into his house. When he came out, he was wearing a white shirt, revealing all his abs, and put over a blue and red sleeved jacket along with a dark blue jeans. He came out of the house and drove us to the nearest movie theatre.

When we reached there, guess who we saw? Nicole and her 'boyfriend'. I didn't know who the guy was anyway but something tells me that he and Alvan are not on good terms. 'Nicole, what are you doing with HIM?' he said while emphasizing on the word 'him'. 'oh hon, you didn't know? Omg! Ryan is my new boyfriend! Since you rejected me a few days ago, I felt so depressed and thank god Ryan was comforting me and all so we decided to start a beautiful relationship.'She gave us an ugly smirk 'so why are YOU and HER together?' I just stood there, I looked at that 'Ryan' that Nicole was talking about. He's around Alvan's height but I guess he definitely is more gentle than Alvan like Alvan is more rough and more of the badass type.

'it's none of your business Nicole, so shut up and leave us alone. Go play with your new 'boyfriend'he said while he sarcastically said the word 'boyfriend'. That was when Ryan started defending Nicole 'no you shut up Alvan. Nicole is mine and I won't allow anyone to bully her. I swear I'll make that person pay. I hope you won't be the first.' Ok, I was wrong about the being-more-gentle-than-Alvan part. This guy is tough. Alvan clenched his teeth and grabbed Ryan's shirt. Before anyone could stop them, they already started punching each other. 'omg! Well done Ryan!! Punch him in the stomach, yea!!' Nicole 'cheerfully' encouraged. 'Nicole, even if you're angry that Alvan rejected you, you shouldn't do this. It's not fair for Alvan. I rather you slap me and stop this fight before something really happens. Please, I beg you. stop this fight' Nicole then slapped me real hard on my cheeks, I could even feel the tingling sensation on my cheeks and tears start forming in my eyes.

Then she said 'this is for what you ever did to me' then she unexpectedly slapped me another time 'this slap is for what Alvan did to me' and by this time Alvan actually stopped fighting and stood up. Ryan also stood up. Passer-bys were all staring at us. I was standing there controlling myself not to actually break down. Nicole lifted up her hand about to slap me, Alvan wanted to stop her hand from reaching my red cheeks but it was too late. Her hands landed on my cheeks and tears trickled down my cheeks. My cheeks were actually burning up. 'and this last slap is to make us even. Come on Ryan, let's go' and they left. The rest of the passer-bys left too. Alvan and I just stood rooted to the ground, creating a painful and awkward silence. Finally he broke the silence 'renee...are you...okay?' tears still kept flowing down on my cheeks. Then without answering his question, I ran out of the shopping mall. When I was at the entrance and thought, just my luck, it's raining heavily. I didn't care much less and ran to the roadside. That was when I heard a car honking and I blacked out.

Alvan's POV

When I asked if she was okay, she didn't reply me, she just ran out of the shopping mall as I ran after her. She ran to the roadside, I heard a car honking and my attention was diverted to a car approaching her at a high speed. 'renee watch out!' but it was too late, I heard a loud bang and she was sent flying to the other side of the road. No no no no no, this can't be happening to her. WHY?!!! I rushed to her side and the driver came out of the car and called an ambulance. I really wanted to beat the crap out of the driver but that wasn't important now, Renee needs me by her side now.

I held her hand as tightly as I could. Then I saw her slowly opening her eyes. I was hoping there was still hope, I knew I couldn't just give up on her. 'Renee! Ok, listen to me, you can make it, just don't sleep, never close your eyes. I know you can do it. Don't give up!' I could hear her mouth moving but I couldn't hear her. I leaned in closer to her mouth and she said...

Renee's POV

And he said 'Renee! Ok listen to me, you can make it, just don't sleep, never close your eyes. I know you can do it. Don't give up!' I knew I couldn't make it, I know I'll never make it in the first place but I had to get his hopes up. 'hahaha, how am I supposed to blink if I don't close my eyes' there was not much for me to do since the ambulance is on their way. I hope I survive this but even if I didn't I'll have no regrets since at least I get to see Alvan before I die. Soon, I could hear the sound of the siren of the ambulance. And that was when I blacked out.

Alvan's POV

As in leaned closer the her, I could hear her more clearly. At least she still can joke which means everything is gonna be okay. That was when the ambulance arrived and she blacked out. I really hope she's fine. The paramedics lifted her onto a stretcher and I followed her to the nearest hospital. She was sent to the hospital to be saved and all I could do is sit there and wait.

After a few minutes although it felt like forever, the doctors came out and told me that she was fine for now but she had to be admitted to the hospital in case something else happens and that was when I let out a deep sigh that I held in for almost an hour. Then I went to Renee's room and there I saw her. As weak as ever. Her lips were pale white and her eyes lost their usual happiness. I hated to see her in this state, I hope this wouldn't last long so she can be back in school.

That was when Renee said in her 'weakest' voice 'hey Alvan, come here and sit' of course I rushed over by her side. 'Renee, I'm so sorry this happened. It's all my fault, if I didn't fight with Ryan, you wouln't be slapped by Nicole and you wouldn't be running out of the mall and meeting a car accident. This is all my fau...' before I could finish my sentence, Renee covered my mouth. She sighed. I knew she wanted to say something but she was just too weak. I gave up by sighing and told her to go rest and I would call her mum. So she closed her eyes and rest. I took her phone and searched for her mum's contact.

'hello, Renee?' this familiar yet peculiar voice answered. 'Mrs Tan? This is Renee's friend. She is currently in a hospital because she met with a car accident. Can you come over now to check on her? We are at Singapore General Hospital' then there was a deadly silence. 'I'm coming over now' then the other party ended the call.
