•Chapter 1: Lesson Time

Ariana's POV

"TRAITOR! HALF BREEDS! INSULT TO THE HOUSE OF BLACK!"

I sit up and rub my eyes. I look towards my bedroom door and realise I'm woken by beloved grandmother scream. Stupid painting, stupid woman...some day I'll find a way to get here off the wall.

I pull back my bedcovers and get up as in about 30 minutes she'll start yelling again and there's no point going back to sleep. I shuffled over to my wardrobe and picked out a old pair of skinny jeans, a red top with cut outs on the shoulders and red ankle boots. I went into my en-suite and had a shower. I got dressed, brushed my teeth and blow dried my hair within another 15 minutes. New record. I just left my hair down as I'm not going to be doing anything today apart from my magic lesson. Hopefully.

I walked out my bedroom and walked down the many floors we have as my bedroom is on the top floor. When I got to the bottom I realised that my grandma's painting was still screaming. Huh, got pretty good at blocking that out. Wait it's been like 30 minutes. Has she been screaming for that long?

I saw dad come out the kitchen looking flustered.

"You ok?" I asked, well screamed.

"Could you?" he said motioning towards the painting. I grabbed my wand that was sticking out my boot and shot a disarming spell to make the curtains shut. Then all was silent again.

"Thank you and good morning" dad said while coming over to hug me.

"Good morning" I said and when we let go from the hug. We walked down stairs to the kitchen together before I thought out loud,  "Why couldn't you stop her yourself?".

"I can't find my wand" he said while scratching the back of his neck. I laughed and then said, "accio Sirius's wand". His wand came flying towards me from beyond the kitchen and I caught it in one hand. Dad smiled at me. He always said I would be a good seeker. I handed him his and I slide my wand back into my boot and slipped into one of the seats at the table as dad started making breakfast.

Me and dad chatted while he served breakfast. We ate bacon, sausages and eggs for breakfast and then went to the lounge for my lesson. Dad moved all the furniture out of the way with a flick of his wand and we got to work. Today we were learning to produce a patronus.

"Okay this spell is quite advanced but first we are going to learn the incantation while we wait for Remus to arrive with the boggart" he said to me. I nodded and grabbed my wand from my boot again.

"I'll show you first" he said and then said, "Expecto Patronum". A silvery mist came from the end of his wand and then a dog came from his wand too. The dog ran around the room and I kept my eyes on it as it ran. Then it disappeared. I turned back to dad to see him smiling at me.

"Ok. To produce one you have to think of a really happy memory because they fight dementors who are just depressing" he said he says shaking his head. I chuckled and i tried to think of a memory. I decided on when I found out I was a metamorphmagus. I was really happy about that and it's easy to remember.

"Got a memory?" dad asked. I nodded and gripped my wand tightly.

"Ok. Say 'Expecto Patronum' and wave your wand like this" he said and then showed me the exact movement. I nodded again and copied his movement. He smiled when I did the movement correctly and then said, "Expecto Patronum". A little wisp of silver came from the end of my wand but nothing else. I sighed and lowered wand frowning.

"Not a strong enough memory" I heard a voice say from the doorway. Me and dad whipped around and held our wands up just in case. Then we saw Remus coming in with a floating chest in front of him. We put our wands down and I asked, "what you mean?".

"To produce the strongest of the patronus's you need to have the happiest memory possible in mind. The one you thought of appeared not be the strongest" he said while setting the chest down, "what memory did you have in your mind?".

"When I found out that I was a metamorphmagus" I said, looked down at the ground realising it wasn't strong enough.

"Not strong enough" dad said, moving next to Remus and sitting on the chest.

"Give me a second" I said sassily. They both put their hands up in surrender with matching smirks on their faces. I turn away and started to scan my memories.

I need a strong memory.
When I got my wand. No.
When I learnt first spell. No, still not strong enough.

Wait...I know.

"Got one" I said smiling, turning to face them both.

"Okay then. Off you go" dad said gesturing me to begin. I focused on the memory and raised my wand.

"Expecto Patronum" I said and after a moment a large tiger appeared from the end of my wand. I stood in awe of it for moment before it disappeared.

"Cool" I say turning to Remus and dad who had smiles plastered on their faces.

"What memory was that?" dad asked.

"You leaving Azkaban and coming back to me" I said looking straight at him. He smile got even bigger. After a moment he looked at Remus who then said, "Time to try with the boggart. When I open the chest think of a dementor, which should transform it into a dementor, and then cast your patronus. Okay?".

He shoved dad off the top of chest to the floor and gripped the latch. Dad glared at Remus as he got off the floor before grabbing one side of the chests lid. Remus looked at me and I grinned. Remus unlacked the chest and both pulled it open. The second it opened I thought of a dementor which caused one to come flying out. I then thought of the memory and cast the spell. Within 45 seconds the boggart was back in the chest and Remus had locked it again.

"Brilliant" dad said walking over to me and giving me a one armed hug.

"Hey Sirius there's a order meeting happening in 10 minutes " Remus said walking over to us looked at his old, battered watch.

"I can still go, right?" I said looking at dad.

"Of course" he said ruffling my hair, "come on".

Together we all walk out the lounge and towards the kitchen.
