Loving Her...

Chapter 3

DAMON's P.O.V
                        After paying the Bill, I and Khloe headed towards my SUV.
  "So,Lily huh? Pretty name. She is pretty herself to be honest. What do you say huh?" Khloe looked at me.
"When I looked at her" I said absentmindedly. I was in a daze, remembering the time when my green eyes met her chocolaty brown ones "I forgot how to Breath."
I reached my car and opened the door for Khloe. I looked back when I realized Khloe hadn't reached the car yet.
"What? Wait, WHAT? DAMON JORDAN KING! DID YOU JUST SAID THAT? I can't believe this. You actually...you actually said something...nice about a girl?" Khloe actually looked shocked.
"Well....." I rubbed my neck awkwardly. Shit! I shouldn't have said that in front of Khloe. Oh God! She'll tell mum about it
"You like her!!!" Khloe jumped in excitement.
"What? No way! I don't like her! Oh come on Khloe, just get in the damn car" I ran a hand through my hair. I was really frustrated.
Khloe shut up after that and quietly sat in the car.
I dropped Khloe at her house and headed towards my own home. All through the ride back home, I kept thinking about her, Lily.
"Lily. She really is beautiful" I tested her name out loud on my tongue and smiled. At this moment, If anyone was watching me, they would refuse to believe that It's the same Damon King they've heard of.

Lily P.O.V

After finishing my duty at "Coffee heaven", I walked towards Mariah's office. Today was payday so all employs were ordered to meet in Mariah's office so that they can receive their salaries. When I walked in, everyone was already present except Mariah. She was going to arrive at 6:30. We still had 15 minutes. Her office was cozy but roomy and there was also a small fireplace. Everyone was talking, already making plans about how they're going to spend their paychecks. I sat with Jade at the back of the room.
"Hey, you remember that pretty lady and the handsome man at table #12? They asked me about you." Jade said turning towards me.
Oh! How can I forget them? That man's green eyes have been haunting me since they left.
"Oh yeah, what did they ask you?" I said.
"The same thing every new customer asks. About why you don't wear a uniform.But the lady also asked me about the pasta."
So she still didn't believe me?
"And what did you tell them?" I asked Jade
"The same thing I tell everyone." She yawned and answered. I felt bad for Jade.She is so tired all the time. She doesn't get much sleep at night because of her 11 months old twins, Noah and Emerald. She's a single mother. The father refused to believe her when she told him about her pregnancy. So she's raising the twins on her own. Jade's my best chum. We've been friends since elementary school. She has helped me a lot and now whenever she needs my help, I try my best to help and support her.
After a while Mariah enters the office and everyone goes quit. She smiles and greets all of us and then starts giving us our paychecks. When she hands me my paycheck, I frown and then sigh.
"Mariah, I can't take this. I've told you that it's not fair to all the other employs if I get full salary with all the privileges!" I said.
"I don't care if it's unfair to them. You are my god-daughter. In fact, I don't get why you have to even work?" Mariah questioned.
"Look, we discussed this before? Just drop it and take this money back. I don't need this much!!" I all but yelled.
"No. Just assume it's a gift from your granny." She said. I sighed and took the money. Mariah moved on to the next employ.
I looked around and found Jade frowning at her own paycheck. I knew Jade was already thinking about how she's going to afford everything for herself and the twins. Jade didn't have any savings left after she bought a small cozy house during her pregnancy. Before that, she used to live in a dangerous neighborhood but she realized that she couldn't risk it after the twins were born. They could be kidnapped. So, she used up all of her savings to buy a home where I lived. She didn't have any relatives and her parents refused to see or help her after they heard about her pregnancy. Right now, I couldn't see my best friend so stressed so I did what my heart told me to do. I walked towards jade and handed her the paycheck. Jade looked up at her surprised. I smiled.
"Don't worry. I don't need this." I explained
"No Lily. It's yours. I can't take it" Jade said.
"And why is that? You're my best friend. You've helped me so much and you were  always there when I needed you. Now you need me, and I won't leave you alone" I explained.
"But.....It's yours" Jade whispered and a tear slipped on her cheeks.
"You need this more than I do. Just accept it as a gift for the twins. After all, I am their only Aunt" I tried to lighten the mood.
Jade hugged me suddenly and thanked me. I grinned.
