25. All of the Stars
[Liam’s POV]
I felt my body shake as the light hit, but it was only for a moment. As soon as the moment was over, I felt a cool breeze and heard the chatter of many people.
“Liam? Liam are you alright?”
I opened my eyes, not realizing they were shut, to see Zayn’s face of concern.
“Zayn,” I breathed out. He blushed, a reaction I loved, and faced the ground.
“We were walking and you weren’t there so I turned around and I didn’t know what was wrong. I’m sorry.” He rushed out what he was saying and I hadn’t paid too much attention because I was too busy taking him in.
“Zayn, you like to read.”
“Um, yes? I mean, yes?” I picked up his head as he was talking, taking him by surprise.
“Sorry, I just enjoy looking at your face when you’re talking.” This made Zayn blink at me and I couldn’t help but smile at his stunned expression.
“Do you enjoy Pride and Prejudice?” I asked, feigning the earlier conversation that I had encountered with Zayn in the blank space.
“I-I do!” Zayn looked at me, his filled with excitement.
“Well, I might want to read it, but can you give me a quick summary or something, yeah?”
Zayn nodded and launched into a full out biography about the story. We walked and I listened to him tell me about Mr. Darcy and the Bennets. I didn’t mind how much he was talking, in fact I enjoyed it. It was obvious Zayn was passionate about reading and I wasn’t going to stop him. He also continued telling me other stories such as Emma and Wuthering Heights.
The other boys smirked when they saw the two of us approaching. I couldn’t help but give them a bit of the finger, discreetly so I wouldn’t distract Zayn, and Louis wolf whistled. Zayn noticed we had caught up to them and his cheeks turned bright red.
“I’m sorry, I’ve been talking this whole time!” Zayn said as he let out a nervous chuckle.
“No it’s alright! I’ve enjoyed it. Besides, you’ve given a nice little book list to read,” I said with a smile.
“Oh?”
“Yeah. I just finished reading Catch 22,” I said. Honestly I did read it, I just didn’t really enjoy it.
“You did?” Zayn asked, his face astonished by my expression.
“Yeah, wasn’t really my thing. I’m a fantasy reader mostly.”
“Oh.”
