INTRO

SUGAR RUSH

❝ Let me just say, I—I definitely did not see that coming. ❞

Leo Oberholt was a legacy, but not the kind anyone would be proud of. Son of two of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most famed agents—one now retired and the other now six feet under, rest his soul—he had been groomed and bred for the very position he now found himself in. Unfortunately for all those who knew, however, his line of work was far from what his parents had done. While a decent fighter and somewhat passing of his field agent training, the young man was, for lack of a better work, benched. Forced into a desk at S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ, he was happy to just make sure everything was running smoothly with a piece of candy in his mouth, ignoring all the jibes from the older agents about how the only reason he was there was because his parents paved a way in gold.

He had planned on just laying low and living comfortably with the lifestyle S.H.I.E.L.D. allowed him, but it seemed as though fate and Director Fury had other ideas. After yet another incident—this time in Sokovia—Leo was tasked to monitor the newest member of the Avengers Initiative, to make sure that he would even be cleared and ready to go on the missions the team would have to go on; after a near brush with death, most were left changed, and with one as volatile as him, it was crucial that he be carefully watched.

That was how Leo found himself moving into the New Avengers Facility to watch over Pietro Maximoff. Going from legacy disappointment to superhero babysitter, the young man couldn't help but feel a sharp culture shock, and coupled with the difficulty wrangling a moody and understandably shaken speedster, he found himself wondering why he was even there.

But as time goes on, and the two begin to bond, they begin to realize that there was no going back; all they could do was run headfirst into the future. A future that would be chosen by them, and no one else.

Third time's the charm, right? Sorry for the messiness everyone, but I promise that I'll get it right this time around, because I really care about this story and I wanna do it justice, because I love Leo and Pietro, and their story is so cute, but ya'll wouldn't know because I'm a mess and am the worst at updating, but I will do better now, I promise.
