"Get off of my land and take your little rats with you!" My alpha shouts at me making my ears flatten to my head and my tail tuck between my legs. The last nice thing my pack had done for me was give me a basket and blanket to carry my pups but now they all looked at me like dirt, even my own family. Falsely accused of causing a pack mates near death experience, I was banished from my home land and from my mate, the alpha. Careful not to wake my week old pups I grabbed the handle of the old woven basket between my teeth and began to move off of the land. The first thing I needed to find was somewhere safe to nurse and keep my pups. Then I would have to hunt, meaning I'd have to leave my pups by themselves.
At the border of the pack lands I felt a heavy weight on my heart and mind but pushed on until I crossed the invisible line onto free land. Once a few meters in I stopped and looked back to my home then began to smoothly trot away, hoping to find an abandoned cave or tree burrow to hunker down in until I'd have to move again. Just to my luck I stumbled upon a large, empty tree burrow and ventured down into it. I placed my pups in the back most corner and gently lifted each from the backet to the floor until they were all out. I layed on my side close to my pups and encouraged them to feed, everything I caught would go towards feeding them before myself, even if it would eventually kill me.
Come on kez, you can do this. I motivated myself as I crept behind an old deer. Two weeks, I still haven't perfected the technique and I'm starting to become skin and bone. But, my pups are health and plump, just as they should be. I lept from my purch above the deer and quietly killed it, eating all I could before scavengers would come and fight me for the little meat there was. Once I felt I'd had enough I began to trot back to the most recent hideout I've found. Its small, only just big enough for me to move around but it will do for now. A few meters from the burrow I looked around to check for anyone watching me before uncovering the entrance and moving down to my fluffy babies. I nuzzled all three of them and chuckled quietly at their reactions. I wish I could give them a better life.Three weeks since I was kicked out and I hardly have the energy to move let alone hunt for food. I had stumbled upon a small territory of an alpha that's luna was incapable of having kids. I knew I would not survive much longer so I surveyed the area and decided that this is the perfect place for my pups. Using an old piece of paper I had found stuck to a tree and a piece of charcoal from an old camp fire I wrote a letter stating the pups names, how old they are, and my wishes for them to be taken in and lived. I folded the paper and tucked it into the edge of the backet. I covered the pups with the blanket that was in the basket as a single tear fell from my eye, I love them but they deserve a better life than with me. Sniffing slightly I shifted to my wolf and began the short journey to the alphas house in the dead of night.
I approached the porch of the small house and gently placed the basket next to the door. I shifted and tucked in my babies before standing and beginning my sorrowful walk away from them. Once at the tree line I turned to see a large man open the door and look down to the basket. I watched as he move the blanket then looked around frantically, probably looking for me, before lifting the backet and taking it inside. I smiled slightly before starting probably the last walk of my life, glad I had done one last good thing before malnourishment finally took my life.Alpha dan's pov
I looked around frantically for the person who had left three of the most beautiful pups I had ever seen on my doorstep. I saw no one so I carefully lifted the backet and carried them into the warmth. The little pups were all huddled together from the cold but stretched out once they came into the house. Carefully I made my way up to mine and my mates room. The only reason I had been downstairs was to get a midnight snack until I heard sniffing and quiet whimpering. Once at our room I entered and turned on one of the bedside lamps before shaking my mate awake. She looked at me dazed until I placed the basket on the bed between us. Her hands cupped her mouth as she looked at the three adorable additions to our little family. With a shaking hand she reached forward and pulled out a note I hadn't noticed. "It says that their names are blake, ben and blaze as well what each looks like. Then it says that their mother wants them to have a happy life as pack wolves not rouges because of her. She wanted to do one last good deed before.." she paused as tears filled her eyes. I grabbed the note and read the bit she was stuck on while she took the pups from the blankets and laid them on her warm chest. 'One last good deed before I join the ranks of the goddess.' She was about to die. I looked to my mate and smiled at the sight of her stroking each of the pups and whispering to them quietly. "Looks like we have finally been blessed with children." I smile to my mate and lay down next to her, taking the largest of the three and laying him on my chest. We may be their new parents, but they shall always know of their true mothers sacrifice. I thought to myself as I began to doze off, thinking of what the future would hold.
