It was a normal saturday evening in april. The rain was pouring down, the wind was howling and the darknes slowly creeping in.
The pubs were already filled with the typical laughter of young people having a good time and drinking.
While the world was in its usual place, on the usual path, Marc was home alone. His stomach was in an excruciating pain. Cramps started in the belly region and spread through the legs, the lung and the chest. But it was a welcomed pain.
Marc started sweating uncontrollably, his heartrate got faster and faster until it was pounding and hurting. His throat was dry an he was thirsty. Another sip of whiskey and the burning goes on.
The pain intensifies and the pulse is pounding in every single limb. For a moment, the pain consumed Marcs whole conciousness and for this brief second, he felt happy.
Marc felt how the pulse started to calm down and how tired he was.
He looked at the picture and tears came to his eyes. He was tired, too tired to keep holding the picture, too tired to keep the eyes open.
Uncontrollably, the picture dropped to the floor. The picture of better, happy times.
Marc tried to get up to pick up the foto, but he was too tired, too weak. He rolled to his side to get one last glimpse of the past and his lips formed a reliefed smile.
The heart was slow, the cramps and the pain strong. Curled up in the fetus position and surrounded by empty bottles of strong alcohol and pain killers, Marc felt the sleep creeping in. After one last look at the past, his one love, Marc drifted away.
No more pain, no more sadness, just darkness.
