"Thank you,Jen. That was absolutely delicious." I thank her when I'm standing by the front door.

The dinner contains Jen making small talks with me and Luke to ease the tension on the table.

He was avoiding any eye contact with me the whole time.

Of course it was upsetting, but I was too busy digging my face in the food anyway.

"Oh you're such a sweetheart." She smiles "Come over again soon, yeah? Sometimes it gets quite lonely that it's only me and Lucas by the table."

"That's for sure." I guarantee.

"Lucas?" She calls for him standing a few feet away against a wall watching us coldly
"Walk Carla home will you?"

"What? It's literally ten steps away!" He complains.

"It's dark out." She says, grabbing him by the ear and push him beside me.
"You can also stay over there if you want."

I feel my cheeks heat up at the thought of that.

I can't see the expression on Luke's face but I hear him murmurs something.

"See you!" She cheerfully says.

"See you." I reply with a smile and follow Luke down the way.

He waits for me a couple steps further before heading to my house together.

"What was it that you wanted to say back in my room." He asks quietly while we walk side by side.

"It was nothing." I quickly deny.

We got to the front of my house and turn to walk the pace leading to the door.

"It's absolutely less than ten steps away." He lowly says

I chuckle as we stop at the front door.

I study his face in the faint light  radiating from the street lamp-
His gaze looking afar; his hands in the pockets as he stands, waiting for me to unlock the door.

"You still haven't told me why you were in my house." I says, breaking the silence of the night.

"Well," he spares a side glance at me "it's nothing."

"You were at MY house, how is that nothing?" I press

He shrugs, not willing to say more.

"Alright then." I sign, opening the door. He turns away as I do so.

Before I close the door, he calls for me from the bottom of the stairs.

"Cara."

I hold the door open.

"Yeah?"

He frowns with a look of uncertainty; his voice is hoarse as if it'd crack any moment.

"Will you be leaving again?"

I was taken aback by his question and the how he says it so cautiously like everything he is only depends on my answer.

"No" I finally gain my consciousness and shake my head "Not shortly."

He nods, making his way back home.

I shut the door before leaning against it, calming my furious heart rate down.

"...I won't if you don't want me to." I mumble.
