Sofia’s POV
I’d just finished editing my video and started uploading it onto my YouTube channel.
Urgh- still had another 2 hours until it was fully uploaded
The video was about me having to move to Los Angeles in order to attend university there.
I’d managed to keep it a secret from everyone apart from my parents, since I did live with them
I decided it was only fair to tell my best friend, May, because she was my best friend.
So I called her, getting the usual answer
“What?”
“Well hello to you too sunshine”
“You just interrupted my date with my burrito. What do you want? Make it quick. Burrito can’t wait for that long”
“Just eat your burrito I’ll call you back later”
“No tell me now. I can tell something’s up. Besides I need to talk to you too. Now shoot”
“Okay, just don’t get upset or overly emotional or whatever.”
“When have I ever gotten ‘overly emotional’?”
“May? Really? I think the question is more: when have you not gotten overly emotional?”
“Shut up and just say what you want to say already”
“Okay… Well… I am-”
“Hold up! Let me guess! You’re getting married! Oh my gosh! This is so emotional! ”
“Woah woah woah! Dude no! I’m only 18! And what did I say about getting emotional?”
“Okay fine. Let me guess again! You’ve decided to go out with that basketball guy! I knew you had a thing for him!”
“No! Jeremy’s my Skype buddy- we’ve never met!”
“You’ve been skyping him for ages now, how have you never met?”
“Maybe because he lives in an entirely different continent! But seriously listen!”
“Okey dokey. I am all ears. Well not really but- you get the point”
“I am moving to L.A…”
“Wut”
“I’m moving to L.A”
“…”
“I’m sorry I never told you before it’s just that-”
“L.A as in Los Angeles?”
“Yes. What other L.A is there?”
“…”
“Listen, I told you I’m sorry just don’t get upset and cry or-”
“YOU LITTLE COPY CAT HOW DARE YOU COPY MY IDEA I’M MOVING TO L.A!”
“…”
“HELLO! Earth to Sofia!”
“…”
“Are you even alive? And don’t make one of your Bigbang or whatever jokes I’m being serious”
“MAY!”
“YES! THERE IS SIGN OF LIFE PEOPLE!”
“WE’RE MOVING TO L.A!”
“Yes we are- OH MY GOODNESS! WE’RE MOVING TO L.A LIKE THE BOTH OF US ARE MOVING TO L.A!”
We both screamed through the phone for what seemed like hours.
We only stopped once our voices had completely gone.
After having finally hung up the phone, I went to check if the video was ready to upload yet. It had finished uploading 2 hours ago.
Eventhough it had taken so long to shoot it, edit it and upload it, I decided to delete the video and start it again.
I was going to call my new video ‘Moving to L.A with May!’
May’s POV
“So, you, Sofia, have some explaining to do. What on Earth are you doing in L.A?”
“To start my new career as a model.”
“Don’t make me laugh. Why are you going to L.A?”
“I got into West Front! AASKDJLiasdlhASLKJDALKJDLA!! SOO EXCITING!!”
“West what?”
“America’s West Front University! It’s the best music school in the whole entire world! Forget the world- the Universe!”
“Oh that thingy you’ve been fangirling over… Well congratulations then! I’m a little upset you didn’t tell me right away but still- CONGRATULATIONS! WE ARE CELEBRATING THIS WITH FOOD!”
“YAAAAAAAY-but don’t we celebrate everything with food anyway?”
“…”
“…”
“WELL WE’LL HAVE EVEN MORE FOOD!”
“YAAAAYY! Anyway, back to you. Why are you going to L.A?”
“I GOT SIGNED!”
“WHAT?!”
“I GOT FRICKING SIGNED!”
“TO A REAL RECORD LABEL?!”
“TO A REAL RECORD LABEL!”
“LIKE AN ACTUAL MUSIC COMPANY WAS LIKE ‘HEY MAY WE WANT YOU TO SING FOR US’?”
“LIKE AN ACTUAL MUSIC COMPANY WAS LIKE ‘HEY MAY- well you get the point”
“That is so cool!! You’re going to meet so many famous people! You have to introduce me! Oh my goodness!”
“Hey! Do you care more about the famous people you may or may not meet or the fact that I got signed?”
“Are serious FAMOUS PEOPLE HELLO!!”
“…”
“I’m joking THAT IS SO GREAT YOU GOT SIGNED OH MY GOSH! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU becausewe’regoingtomeetfamouspeople!”
“I hate you”
“I DON’T CARE! FAMOUS PEOPLE!”
Once Sofia had ended her delirium over famous people, we planned where we were going to stay, how we were going to get there and how much more variety they had in their McDonalds.
For years now I’ve been singing covers and my own songs on YouTube.
I’ve had lots of offers of getting signed to labels but, until now, they’ve all asked me to delete my YouTube channel (which I would never do in a million years).
I’m now the second most popular YouTuber; 102 less than Ray William Johnson, 56 more than Sofia’s channel.
Sofia plays practically every single musical instrument you can think of. Her YouTube consist of her remixes, mashups and covers of songs. But she doesn’t sing, she just uses musical instruments.
Sometimes we appear in each other’s videos so our fans call us ‘The Mafia' for short.
Well Los Angeles better get ready for The Mafia
(because we are going to eat so much food)
