Mateo,

"Now for us. I need your names." I gestured for them to start.

"I'm Shay." This dark skinned boy who looked like he played basketball said.

"I'm King." The light skinned boy from before said.

"Chi" The smallest girl spoke.

"Kasai or Kas for short." An Asian girl spoke.

"And I'm Trey."

"Hmm." I stared hard at the last boy who spoke. "Do I know you?" The boy had red flag all over him.

Reading people was something I've always been good at. I can feel others feelings when I study their expressions for long enough. Like with him, I can sense neglect mostly because I know what it feels and looks like. But then there's something else. He seems proud of something. Why does he look so familiar?

"No, I-I don't think we've met." He looked at me with worry in his eyes. Or maybe it was confusion. "But I've heard a LOT about you. I'm so proud of myself for making it this far and being able to be on your team." He smiled wide.

"Kiss ass." Kas mumbled. I chuckled at her expression.

"I can tell that I'll have to keep you in check." I whispered to her. Her face immediately turned red.

"Um...Mr- I mean M-Mateo, Not to like- um, no disrespect but c-can you tell us the plan now." Chi asked in a soft tone.

"Oh, yea sure." I nodded. "But hey, right now we're all friends, trust each other and stop being so shy. Act like I'm...Your older brother or something." I put my arm around her.

"O-ok." She whispered.

"Ok Then." I said, still with my arm around chi. "Here is the plan. For starters, you five are staying."

"What?" Trey exclaimed.

"Your staying. No offense but brains aren't the fighting type. Think of it like this, the brain literally works the body. Everyone here, is the body. We have the muscle," I pointed to the buff fighters, "We have the arms and legs, "I nodded to the par core dudes, "There's the skeleton," The guns, "And we are the brains/ nerves. It's the body's job to protect the brain. In short we -- Well, y'all, will operate from here while being guarded by the guns AKA the skeleton and the rest of us will fight."

"I call bull." Trey said, clearly annoyed.

"And I call the shots. If you got a problem you can leave I have no problem with that. My mom is the one employing you, or did you forget?"

He huffed and rolled his eyes.

"Right, now once y'all leave, I will be giving commands for what I need you to do. Your actual leader will give you in instructions on how to work the equipment. That's pretty much all I needed to tell you."

I heard Trey kiss his teeth and mumble something under his breath but I let it slide. I don't have time to be arguing with this dude.

"Now go with him over there and be careful. Noise carries. If your too loud or slow yall will be killed. Got it?"

Everyone nodded in unison and headed towards travis, their leader.

I looked around a the slight commotion and sighed. I was satisfied and some what impressed that things got done so fast but still i couldn't help but be real with myself. I was scared. They were scared. I dont know how but part of me still feels calm and in control.

The love of my life could be dead and I'm sitting here smiling and leading this massive group. If it weren't for them though, I can honestly say I'd be done for.
