Day and Night

She was day and he was night,
They came together only to fight.

They didn't mix, they didn't blend,
They fought until the bitter end.

Blood was spilled, so it was said,
When the fight was done they both lay dead.

Around them lay the carnage they had wrought:
The field of enemies they had fought.

So together, they there did lie,
Until the greying of the sky.

She was day and he, the night,
Back to back they fought the good fight.
