Guys I started this just after s3 started airing, so in this one shot just imagine that Ramiro didn't snitch on the roller team and all that stuff. He didn't do anything seriously wrong here otherwise the story wouldn't make any sense 😂.
"What does happiness mean if you don't have a person to share it with?"
It was the most important competition of probably his entire life. Of course, every single one of them had meant a lot to him, but this one definitely stood out. First of all, it was the most professional skating competition ever existed. And secondly, there were famous scouts here so this could be his chance to break through. There were only two things that had an negative effect on his mood. One: he was with the sliders, and two: she wasn't here. Not that he had expected her to come and cheer him on, but still. Everything felt incomplete without her presence. It had been a long time since they'd broken up and it was true that time healed all wounds. It didn't hurt anymore, everything he did just felt wrong and unimportant. It was like everything moved past him without affecting him; he did everything like a robot. This was the first thing that had actually made him excited in months. But he still wasn't at the level of excitement he wanted himself to be at one of the most important moments in his life.
Ramiro shook his head to lose all the thoughts containing her; he had to focus now. The sliders weren't that bad after all, he had to admit, but they weren't the best people to calm someone down either. He was nervous and he had the feeling they wouldn't be happy about that. When he looked up, his suspicions were confirmed. Ámbar, Emilia and Benicio were standing together, looking totally confident and ready to go on. Insecurity wasn't one of his personality traits, but even for him it was weird to participate in a competition without the usual nerves. These were the moments where he missed her the most. How easily she could read his mind. She would've taken his hand and said nothing at all. She would've let him keep his pride even though she knew that under all the bragging he was actually a nervous wreck.
Ramiro looked up at the big screen that was displaying all the other teams. They were good, they were really good. But something else caught his eye. Did he see Luna there? Yes it was her, it was impossible to not notice her with her colourful clothes and big banner. Everything between his and his old friends had chilled down a bit, much to his appreciation. Things were actually okay between them now. As soon as he saw Luna, he searched through the crowd for her, but she was nowhere to be found. He found Matteo, Simón, Nina, Jim and everyone else from Roller. Well, everyone except for her. He knew she had some kind of audition today to get into one of the most famous auditoriums, but Jim was here and they would audition together. So there was no other reason for her to stay away. No other reason than him.
But seeing his friends coming here to cheer them on, made him feel warm inside. Because they had gone through some rough times with them not talking to him and him snitching on them in return. He smiled at the screen, remembering their old times. Memories no one could ever take away. It was a bittersweet feeling.
And when someone from the staff motioned them to come, he felt a little more ready. The crowd overwhelmed him. All the lights, the people, it was a lot to take in during the short moment they had while they were being announced.
He looked to the right and saw his teammates fully enjoying the attention.
He looked straight forward and saw his friends clapping for them.
He turned his head to look to the left and expected to find the scouts, but instead his eyes landed on a blonde girl. She stood in the crowd, probably because she'd been too late to get a seat. She was surrounded by dozens of people and was almost invisible, but for him it was impossible to not see her. She looked up and found his eyes.
Her reassuring smile was the reason he felt like he was flying for the entire performance.Immediately after the last note of their song faded away, he moved his eyes to where she was. Or better said: where she had been. Because she was gone. His head filled itself with questions. Had she been there at all? Hadn't it just been something he'd imagined? He sighed, it probably had.
She'd never supported him in his decision to skate along the sliders. It had been the reason she had broken it off, after all. No, the more he thought about it, the more he became sure it couldn't have been real.
He didn't get the chance to worry about it anymore, because Emilia nearly pushed him out of the rink. Oh right, he'd forgotten there were other teams that still needed to go on. As soon as he reached the backstage area, a few scouts came to talk to them. Not that he really cared anymore though. After a few minutes of talking to some scouts with his teammates, a male scout motioned him to come. Ramiro frowned, but did as asked.
"You really got some moves there, young man." The older man spoke impressed.
Ramiro smiled proudly. "Thanks a lot."
"You know, I'm interested in you. Tell me more about your experiences with roller skating. The girl beside me told me you also do a street dance kind of style."
He was confused. "I'm sorry, which girl are you referring to?"
"I didn't catch her name, but she seemed to know you very well. Blonde, curly hair, red shirt...."
Ramiro had heard enough. After all, it hadn't been something in his head. And he smiled, a true smile for the first time in weeks.
After talking for about half a hour with the man, who indeed turned out to be a famous scout, he excused himself.
"I'm sorry, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you."
"Likewise, young man, and don't forget, my offer still stands. I hope to see you at auditions next month."
He'd actually been offered a chance to audition for a popular skating team. And of course, he was very happy. But there were more important things to do right now.
