Lucy, standing, recoiled in horror from the man speaking to her.
"You've been watching me since birth? How old are you?" She asked horrified. They certainly didn't look that old.
The man with glasses thought for a moment before answering, "That's not a simple question for some of us," he said glancing to his companion. "I feel like it's better to just say that none of us are human."
Lucy would've objected, had she not gone through the unbelievable horror from the wolf man. Although knowing that they were all potentially the same scared her far too much.
"S-So... are you all... like that... Ryan thing?" She said, hesitating at his name.
"Thing?" The man in the corner scoffed. "That's one way to describe him."
The man with glasses shot a dark look to his companion, which was completely lost on the man. "No, we're all different, it's best if you perhaps ask us all individually," he said, glancing over his glasses. "I myself am King Rajesh of the faye, a group of long living being with magic drawn from the earth itself," he explained seriously.
Lily didn't know what to believe, it sounded insane, but what else could she believe right now? He seemed to note her strange looks, and produced his palm. She stared in wonder as a soft green mist covered it, and a small, daisy sized Lily appeared. He seemed to pluck it from his hand and put it in her hair mischieviously as she was too much in awe to stop him.
Her hand nervously, but gently, brushed along the flower. It certainly felt real. Her eyes were fixed upon his, and he seemed to smile and open up to her for the first time, he seemed far more relaxed.
"If... you're who you say you are. A king... where are your people?" Lily asked quietly.
Rajesh smiled at her, leaning back. "My people are not one to congregate and stay in one place for long, perhaps I'll show you some if I ever get the chance to take you to a festival. All my duties can be done online through careful bookkeeping, it's a rather easy job when using magic and technology."
She nodded, as if she understood what he was saying. She hadn't considered the prospect of combining magic and technology before. However, she had not considered magic even existing before now.
It was then she remembered the other man in the room. She glanced over at him nervously. If she was to be stuck here, she needed to know her captors in order to try to escape them. "And you?" she asked softly.
The man smiled sadly, taking some short steps forward. "It's easier to show you," he said quietly.
Still in a clouded daze from witnessing the magic, she only reacted by stepping back a little as he approached her, hand outstretched. She closed her eyes nervously as she felt his hand rush inelegantly into her face. Expecting something else to happen, she waited, but he simply stood there, his hand frozen on her face. Feeling almost awkward, she opened her eyes and gazed upon his shocked face.
"You... I can feel you!" He gasped, tears welling in his eyes. "Oh sweet Lucy, I never dreamed I could touch you!"
She began to feel afraid as his other hand reached out and grabbed her arm tightly, while his original hand kneeded her face. She could clearly see him crying as he glanced upon her with pure joy.
"Merritt!" Rajesh chastised sharply. "Calm yourself!"
Merritt did not seem to care. "But Rajesh my good friend! How can I calm myself in this beautiful moment!"
Lucy was frozen, and she felt tears well up in her eyes too. She was stuck in a strange limbo where she didn't know if she should run from this man or comply.
"You are scaring Lucy!" Rajesh shouted and leapt forward, walking towards them. "You must contain yourself!"
"It has been so long since I have touched the flesh of someone I have loved so dearly," Merritt continued, ignoring Rajesh. "It is the most beautiful feeling in the world."
Loved so dearly? Lucy was unable to take this any more, and pushed him away. She shrieked, gathering herself and rushing for the nearest door. Finding it just to be a closet she panicked and flung the door closed as she entered it, and crawled up on the floor next to the opposite wall. There she sat, sobbing again, hoping this was all going to be a very realistic dream.
"Now see what you've done!" Rajesh cryed out.
Merritt said nothing for a moment, before stuttering out, "oh... oh n-no! I did not mean to, I'm sorry Lucy, let me-"
"No!" Rajesh cut in. "You are not to touch her again until she is ready. You have done too much."
Lucy did not hear a reply, and assumed that would be the end of the conversation until a few moments later she heard a soft tapping on the door.
"Lucy?" Rajesh called. "Are you alright?"
Lucy wanted to laugh. How could she be alright! "N-no! Leave me be!" She shouted back furiously.
"Alright Lucy, I'll give you some space. Just let us know if you need anything, we're not going for a while yet."
Lucy sighed, curling herself into a ball and surrounding herself with a small towel that was on the floor for comfort. If they were still out there, she intended to never leave this new haven.
