so before we jump into this hell a few things to note:

this starts from week 2, since I can't mess with week 1 without messing up some of Neku's character development stuff

AT means alternate timeline, it's supposed to be a timeline altering thing in which they're all happy at the end and josh isn't alone

Neku and Josh are hella gay in this so just deal with it for now k or if you don't like that just go lol

I'm probably going to be working on this more often, the shibuya writer has her jobs to do here so its reasonable i guess

from time to time i may drop into the story to fix shit or smth bc I'm a terrible writer and i might have plot inconsistencies

this is actually what's going on in the timeline (you know, the branch timeline I made off of the actual happy end lol I should stop doing this)

there are separate backgrounds for the 'characters' than in the game, i updated and added some shit (and shioné was a dick and decided to alter it so i couldn't fix it) so those are below

NEKU:

His father left after frequent arguments with his mother. Only three years later, his mother hung herself after finding herself unable to handle the stress she was under. Neku was put into a foster home with foster parents who didn't care what he did. As a result, he began to shut people out. Neku began to distance himself from his friends after one began to spread a rumor that he had killed someone who had disappeared a year prior. When Neku was thirteen, he completely just gave up on the world, and, in turn, himself. He attempted to take himself out by jumping onto the tracks of a train in the outskirts of Shibuya. He was pulled back by an invisible force, rendered unconscious, and somehow brought home. He had no semblance of an idea of who had stopped him other than a note that was left for him. He used what was in the note to keep him going for the next few years, but when he turned fifteen he began to lose hope again. A few days before he was added to the Game, he was in the Udagawa back streets to try and regain some of his will to keep living. Unfortunately, this had the adverse effect. This was where, a few mere minutes after arrival, he was shot and killed. He was added to the Game due to his high levels of imagination.

Joshua:

Joshua was killed in a car accident when he was eight years old. Due to his unusually high amounts of imagination, he was added as a Player of the Game by the previous Composer. Joshua had formed a pact with Neku's mother, who had sought him out due to his similarities to Neku. At the end of the Game, they were the only two who were still alive. Neku's mother hadn't received as many points as Joshua, however, and was Erased by the Conductor after having her Entry Fee returned. Joshua, out of anger for having watched Neku's mother be killed without a second thought, killed the Conductor. This prompted the appearance of the Composer, who Joshua also killed after learning his identity. Sanae Hanekoma, who at the time was tasked with overseeing the Game, took the opportunity to appear and inform Joshua that he was now the Composer of Shibuya. Joshua has maintained his role since this interaction. At the physical age of thirteen, Joshua had taken a break between Games to go to the outskirts of Shibuya. While there, he quickly recognized Neku about to step onto the train tracks. Despite being a plane apart from him, Joshua pulled Neku back, rendered him unconscious, and took him home. He left a note for Neku, then left. About two years pass. Joshua (after having been pursued by Sho Minamimoto to the Udagawa back streets) comes to realize that Neku is losing his will again. In an attempt to keep him alive, Joshua kills him and places him in the Game without his memories.

Shiki:

Before meeting Eri, Shiki was often the target of bullying because of her appearance. This lead to self-esteem issues. Upon meeting Eri, the two quickly became friends. They would often spend time together, creating clothes. One day while Shiki was trying and failing to come up with a design, Eri suggested that she wasn't meant to be a designer. Shiki took this the wrong way, becoming upset and running off. She was killed in a car accident in which a drunk driver ran a red light, striking her with their car and killing her on impact. She was put into the Game by Joshua due to her strong will to survive.

Beat:

Growing up, Beat's parents always had high expectations for him. He was their first child, and they expected him to be exactly as they wanted him to be. As a result, Beat began to cave under the pressure his parents put on him to succeed, eventually grinding to a halt on school work, life skills, and other things. He would often get into fights with his parents. On the day he was killed, he had gotten into a particularly bad one that lead to him walking off. His younger sister, Rhyme, pursued him in an attempt to help him calm down. Rhyme was in the path of a speeding car, and Beat attempted to push her out of the way. The two were both killed by the car in the Miyashita Part underpass. Beat was added to the game due to his strong determination.

Rhyme:

Rhyme was the 'normal' child of the Bito household. She did as she was told, and she would try to help others in any way she could. When her older brother, Beat, started to get into fights with their parents, Rhyme would try to console him and keep him calm. This kept up until the day the two were killed by a speeding car in the Miyashita Park underpass. Rhyme was added to the Game due to her strong dreams.
