The Four

Chapter Ten

WILL

We all got a day off school to deal with James' death.

Of course, the four of us immediately crammed into Amanda's Mini Cooper, with Emily and I in the back and Zoe in the front with Amanda driving, and headed to Zoes basement to research, after picking up Krispy Kreme donuts as a snack.

"Are you patrolling tonight?" I decided to break the silence.

"Maybe. If we're done researching then... maybe."

"Are you meeting Alex?" Emily sounded excited.

Amanda turned around smiling. "Maybe..." All the girls laughed. I suddenly felt quite awkward sitting in a car full of girls. Amanda pulled up in front of Zoes house.

"So are you sure your parents won't mind all of us being here?"

"Um... My dads... away, and my mums also away on a work trip."

There was an awkward silence, broken by Emily.

"Come on. We're not going to get any research done if we're sat in the car."

I got out of the car and shut the door behind me. Gravel crunched beneath my feet as I walked up the short drive to Zoe's house and waited for her to unlock the front door.

Now that I thought about it, it was a bit strange that Zoes parents were never around, but I guess they just had busy jobs.

"Do you mind if I use your bathroom?" I said.

"Sure, its just down the hall."

"Ok, thanks."

I used the toilet and then washed my hands and dried them on a piece of toilet paper. I flipped open the bin with my foot. Inside was an empty box of light brown hair dye. It looked like it would be the exact same shade as Zoes hair.

I made a mental note to ask Zoe about it later and left the bathroom.

The metal stairs into the basement creaked as I walked down them.

I found Emily and Amanda sat on the beanbags, watching curiously as Zoe sprinkled red powder on a map. Her mouth was moving but no sound came out. Slowly, a light appeared underneath the map. Then, a tall narrow shaft of orange light shone up, like an enormous arrow, pointing out a place. Zoe jumped up and grabbed the map.

"We're going to the theatre."

Sorry guys, I know this is quite a short chapter and I know that I haven't updated in ages, but here it is. The next few chapters have lots of action in them so they might be easier to write. Only a few more chapters left!
