Jimin sat up every night for a week, quietly giggling to himself while he texted Jungkook. The younger made him laugh a lot, often telling him stories from his grade school days. Jungkook seemed like a fun kid.

One night, a couple weeks after they started texting, Joey left for a 'business' matter. That meant he was going with Minhyuk to get high at some secret spot the cops didn't know about.

Jimin actually face timed Jungkook that night, showing him the kitchen as he cooked himself dinner.

"Hey," Jungkook blushed, rubbing his neck, "You...should come over...after you eat. Just to hang out."

Jimin paused in chopping vegetables. He smiled. "I'd like that."

"Jungkook-ah, I love your apartment," Jimin sighed, looking around the living room. The back wall was all glass, giving a beautiful view of Seoul.

"Yeah? Well, your kitchen looked really...cozy. Mine's too white. It reminds me of a hospital."

Jimin giggled. "I mean, there are knives in there."

"Exactly," Jungkook pointed to him then leaned forward to grab another can of soda from the table.

Jimin rolled his eyes. "That's your fifth one."

"I'm telling stories. My mouth's dry." Jung grinned before popping the can open.

Jimin had half the mind to slap the can out of his hand, but then he'd probably have to clean up the mess. So, instead he just watched Jungkook and sipped his own soda.

After a few minutes, Jimin let out a short laugh. He blushed and hid his face in his arm.

"What?" Kook asked, chuckling slightly.

"Nothing," the older waved it off. "Just...thinking, is all."

"Hm," Jung nodded, looking down to his lap. "So...how's your boyfriend?"

Jimin told Jungkook about Joey through text, since the younger was always wondering why it sometimes took him a while to respond.

"He's...I mean, I'm good. And he's happy, as far as I know. But."

In that moment, Jimin really wanted to tell Jungkook about the abuse, the rape, the drugs, his terrible living conditions, the fighting, and all of Joey's ridiculous rules that he followed just so he didn't get a new scar or bruise.

"Well, things aren't like they used to be," he said, settling for keeping Jungkook out of it. If Joey found out he knew, Jungkook would have to leave the country.

"Oh, I'm sorry. We don't have to talk about it."

Jimin lightly smiled, then he smirked and his eyes flicked up to meet Kook's. "Make me a promise."

"Huh?"

"Promise me something."

"Um...what is it?"

"When it's just us...let's pretend like Joey doesn't exist."

"Kookie," Jimin giggled, reaching over and slapping the younger's arm. "That's not what I meant!"

"But it's what you said!"

"It came out wrong!" The older pouted.

"Then what were you trying to say?" Kook grinned, going back to building his Lego house.

"Just...we're friends, right?"

"Uh...I mean...you're in my house. So I trust you. Yeah, we're friends." He nodded, glancing at the other.
