Jungkook huffed out a nervous breath as he looked in the mirror once more.
Was his outfit right? Would Jimin's parents mind the rips in his jeans? Would his dad find his plain t-shirt too informal?
"Baby, you look great." Jimin sounded from the door, slowly moving behind him and resting his head on his shoulder.
"I think I'm underdressed."
"You look perfect. You look like you. That's who I want to meet my parents. My perfect boyfriend, not his nervous alter ego."
Kook wiped his sweaty palms against his jeans. "Are you sure your mom won't think I'm too poor for you?"
Jimin laughed at that, turning Kook's head to kiss him. "You are too poor for me," he mumbled. "But I love you just the same."
Kook playfully frowned and turned back to the mirror to quadruple check his hair.
The older rolled his eyes, but watched his love with adoration. No one was more entertaining than his boyfriend.
"Eomma," Jimin weakly said as his mom opened the door. He hurried her into his arms and they hugged for a good minute.
Jungkook stood there awkwardly freezing on the front porch.
"I'm sorry I let him treat you that way," Jimin's mom finally said. "I'd kill him if I ever saw him again."
"He's gone, Momma. Don't worry. It's not your fault. You didn't know."
She pulled away and wiped her tears, skillfully not messing up her makeup. After a sniffled and kiss to her cheek, she finally noticed Jungkook. "Oh, hello. Sorry about that."
Jungkook bowed quickly, as well as he could manage without increasing his want to vomit.
"Who's this Jimin?"
The older male inhaled through his teeth then clung onto Jungkook's arm. "This is Jungkook. He helped me get away from Joey. And...he's my boyfriend, now."
His mother's shoulders slightly slacked, but she felt better when Jung put his arm around Jimin. Joey barely ever did that, let alone allow Jimin to hug him in public. She felt so stupid...so blind.
"Um...Mrs. Park.... I just wanted to let you know...for your peace of mind...that I love Jimin-hyung. I don't think I could bear hurting someone as wonderful and kind as him. Please accept me as his partner."
Jimin smiled fondly at his boyfriend, who let go of him in order to bow an almost perfect ninety degrees.
Mrs. Park had learned her lesson in trusting her son's boyfriends too quickly, so she simply touched Jungkook's shoulder and said "Thank you."
Jungkook looked up to her with a smile and chuckled lightly. "Can I hug you?"
She glanced at Jimin who was hiding his smile then slowly nodded.
Jungkook raised up and quickly wrapped her in a hug, lifting her feet off the ground slightly.
Jimin put a hand on Kook's shoulder after a minute, giggling at his boyfriend's pretty, happy smile. "Let's go inside and introduce you to my dad."
Kook became nervous again and gulped. "Yeah. Right....your father."
Mr. Park was more intimidating than his wife, probably because he was capable of frowning so hard he created a new wrinkle every second.
Jungkook wanted to tell a joke to lighten the atmosphere, but with Jimin off getting his parents coffee, he had no confidence.
Mrs. Park gave him a soft smile and he was able to breath evenly again, then he took a breath in.
"Mr Park.... I'm sure you know about Jimin-hyung's last relationship by now. I just want to assure you that I could never treat him that way and live with myself. He's too... Jimin-hyung is too special to me."
A minute passed, Jungkook slowly counting the ticks of the clock, then Mr. Park stood up.
He reached over the coffee table, his open hand outstretched. "Thank you for telling me that."
Jungkook immediately stood and grabbed his hand, bowing as well. "Thank you for giving me a chance."
The snowstorm hit three hours earlier than the weather channels predicted, so after dinner, Jimin and Jungkook were offered Jimin's old bedroom to sleep in.
It was turned into a guest room the previous year, so the bed was big enough for the two of them to share, much to Jungkook's relief.
He had been wanting to cuddle Jimin all day, but was too scared by his dad's stare.
Finally, once they were laid down, Jungkook wrapped his whole body around Jimin's.
The older giggled and maneuvered his arm to pay Jung's back. "What is it, baby?"
"Nothing. Just wanna hold you."
"Mm," Jimin hummed. "Well, you do that. I'm gonna fall asleep."
"Okay," Jung mumbled, pecking Jimin's cheek. "Love you, night night."
"Night, Kookie. Love you."
Jungkook waited until Jimin fell asleep to kiss his lips and nose. He was a bit reluctant to kiss him in his parents' house. This way it couldn't possibly escalate.
He smiled at himself a bit amused at how stupid he was acting, but Jimin made him that way and he loved it. He wouldn't change a thing about them, especially not their symbolic, shiny rings.
