Running through the halls, I felt an elbow jab into my ribs.

I stumbled into a locker, huffing a strand of hair out of my face while ignoring the pruning laughs. They were psycho, taking joy in hurting me.

One day, I will get them back. But, for now, I have to hide my powers. My mother says that i'll be killed if i tell anyone besides my brother, my dad, or her.

"Oh i'm sorry, I didn't see you there," Sonali, their 'leader' proclaims mockingly.

I grumble as I walk to my math class. Horrible I know. Math first? How dare the gods curse me with this fate. I huff as I take a random seat. People avoiding me and seating away.

Sucks for them, I happen to be great. Not that I need company anyway.

Its the 4th month, 3rd week of school. Everyone has decided to stay away from me, all except this one, brown eyed spoon.

Spoon, though not his real name, a nickname. He got it when we met. He had a spoon stuck in his curly hair, unable to get it out. His real name was Vern Matel.

He asked me to get it out, blushing furiously. It was obvious he was shy. I took it gently, with ease, out of his hair. He then took to me as a guardian of sorts. I protect him from bullies, we become best friends.

Back to the present, he flopped down in a seat next to me, squeaking the blue chair a little to the right, in order to be closer to me.

"Hey Pride, did you uh, happen to finish the homework?" He never did his homework.

"Of course. You know, one of these days you'll have to start doing it on your own." I laughed at his bright red face. Though he had a darker skin tone than mine, you could clearly still see the blush ridden upon his cheeks.

He giggled nervously, puffing out his cheeks in a huff as he took the homework, copying it quickly.

Mrs. Botelli walked it, the class silencing. You didn't want to get on her bad side, she was horrid.

"To quick-start the day, we have a new student! His name is Vaki Pilc. He moved from..." She trailed off, willing him to finish the sentence.

Everyone tensed. He gave off a cold feelings, one of distrust and doubt.

"Lakeshore, Florida." He didn't say anything else. Just sat in a seat behind me, it was the only open seat.

No one said a word, still tense. His voice was chilling, but yet sexy in a way. I didn't get a glance at his face, I was looking at the floor the whole time.

Spoon cast a glance at me, winking. I was the only one he was comfortable with.

Mrs. Botelli proceeded to give us groups of 3. Vaki in our group. I mentally cursed at her, but decided to not judge a book by its cover.

"Hey. So you're from Florida?" I states, more than question, when I turn around to face him.

I freeze as I look at him. He's so strikingly beautiful, he isn't real. We make eye contact. My dull brown eyes against his violet. The color of a human with powers, like me. I wear contacts, as to hide them.

I immediately look away when he nods. We begin working on the packet the teacher gave, in stunned silence. It's awkward.

Spoon keeps giving me glances, as if he knows what I do.

-------

It's raining when we get out of school, as Spoon and I clumsily bolt to my car.

I trip over air, as it seems, "FOR FUCK SAKE!" I fall to the ground in a heap, already getting soaked. Spoon manically laughs, not even helping me up as he slams the car door behind him.

I groan as I get up and into the car, getting the seat wet in the process.

"That was rude." I state, not looking at him.

He giggled, "I don't know what you're talking about." He looks out the window as I start to drive. "Is that Vaki?" He points to a soaked figure walking at a brisk pace, down the sidewalk.

I immediately pull up beside him rolling down Spoons window, despite his protests of getting water in the car.

"Want a ride?" I slightly shout, so he can hear me.

He takes a peek at us, "I'd rather not."

I frown, slowly driving the car next to him because he's still walking.

"Get in you dumbie. You're going to get sick."

He loudly huffs and puffs, almost blowing a house down. He slams the car door as he gets in the back.

"Where to?" I grin in success. I win.

He grumbles directions as I realize he lives two houses down.

I slightly laugh. He questions me with his gaze, confusion swirling in them.

"Welcome to Dulen, neighbor."
