Charlotte has finally finished high school and is moving into an apartment in the city. In her search for a roommate she meets Oli. He moves in and the rest is history.
Charlotte's P.O.V I was sitting in my pajamas on the couch watching Titanic when Oli's friend came out of his room. I think his name is Jake.
"Hey, Charlotte," he says.
I smile. "Hi, how are you?"
He sits down next to me on the couch. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," I said with a nod.
"Okay, I actually have three," Jake admits. "Question number one: Are you single?"
"Yes."
"Alright. Number two: How can I tell if a girl likes me?"
"I'm noticing a pattern here."
Jake smirks. "Possibly."
I lean back further on the coach. "Well, every girl is different. Sometimes they try to attract your attention. If I liked a guy though, I would probably try to be more independent, I guess? Like I'd show him I can do things on my own and I wouldn't want to come off as too desperate."
"Question three: Are you free next Friday?"
I think for a moment. "I am."
"Oli and I were planning to go to a karaoke night at Pop Wham. Wanna join us?"
"Sure."
Jake gets up and goes back to Oli's room with a grin on his face. I shrugged off the weird encounter and turned my attention back to the movie.

Oli's P.O.V Jake comes back into my room and falls down onto the bed next to me.
"How did it go?" I ask.
"I think she likes you."
I laugh. "She doesn't like me."
"Well, we're all going to Pop Wham on Friday."
Friday? That's... "But I can't. I have a job interview, Jake."
"You better go because I'm going to get sick last minute and bail." He pretends to cough.
"You're the one who thought she was hot!"
"I was bluffing. I'm dating Becky."
I blink, processing what he just said. Who the hell is Becky?"
"I know what you're thinking, Oli. Who the hell is Becky? Well, Becky is only the most beautiful woman I have met in my life."
I punch Jake's arm.
"What was that for?!"
"Firstly, for not telling me sooner. Secondly, it was payback for your punches."
