Passing cars,
Barking dogs,
Calling birds,
Chattering neighbors.
Still, green trees,
Colorful rocks,
Chain-link & picket fences,
Loose cats,
Cracking streets,
Short, wet grass,
Eroding dirt,
Varying homes.
Afternoon is here,
Clear in the air,
Yet you are not.
Dearest friend,
For where have you settled?
Your presence reminded me of the summer that has now fallen upon us,
Warm & delightful.
Dearest friend,
For why did you scurry away?
Many of questions are left unanswered,
But dearest friend,
Forever is your smile,
Etched within my mind,
& your essence,
Embedded in & blessing my soul.
