plot/summary: janine enters her sophomore year and realizes that she may be attracted to girls. when a girl named kate messner passes her in the halls, she understands that she is totally attracted to girls. unknowing of the fact that kate would help direct it, janine goes to audition for the school movie. her and kate get closer and closer by the day, until one day janine blurts out her feelings in a state of frustration and panic. she begins to avoid kate like the plague until kate finally confesses to liking her back.
drama/conflict: janine ends up dealing with some internal homophobia for a while.
her one friend (see below for character information) friend-breaks up with her once she finds out that janine likes girls.
she starts failing her classes due to going into a state of depression, which stresses her out even more.
kemaline briefly happens, which is devistating to janine.
