I sat there, swinging around in the swivel chair as Director Fury talked to some other guy.

I was underneath some SHIELD headquarters, telling Fury about the whole Stark technology being stolen by some Russian dude. No biggie.

But Fury seemed to have a different idea. He seemed to think that I would want to be a part of some superhero group called the Avengers.

Pfft. As if.

"Captain, This is Torri Stark. Also known as Iron Lady."

I didn't need to look up to see who Fury was talking to. I'd heard about him before. And I most certainly didn't want to meet him.

"Miss. Stark."

I glanced up to see the noble Captain America. And I must admit, he was better looking in person. But that didn't change what I thought of him.

"Ah, yes. The man out of time," I said, approaching him.

"How do you know about him?" Director Fury asked.

"Ow!" I exclaimed sarcastically, "Your lack of faith is disturbing. I'm a billionaire genius. I think I can break through a few files, to look up 'America's First Superhero'."

Captain America held his hand out for me to shake.

I took it as he said, "Pleasure to meet you."

"Trust me, the pleasure is all yours."

I walked back to the desk, not wanting anymore to do with him.

"Ms. Stark, Cap. here is part of the Avengers initiative."

"Mmh," I nodded unenthusiastically while sifting through an old file cabinet. SHIELD is so old fashion.

"You two may be working together in the near futu-"

"Not my future. I told you, Fury. I don't wanna be a part of your super secret boy band."

Fury sniffed at this, I suppose that's the closest thing to laughter from him.

"Don't you have somewhere to be, Cap? Some date or-wait that's right. You don't because everyone you know is dead. My bad."

With, I stomped out of the room, making sure to jut out my hips.

I walked down the hall, and once I was sure the guys weren't looking, I accidentally let my guard down and fell. Flat. On my face.

Nice going, Torri.

Two weeks later...

My suit beeped like an old submarine, (I added that) as I swam underwater, connecting the two pipe lines that ran from my new tower in New York, to here.

Once I saw that everything was connected, I sent my suit flying strait up, into the air.

I could see people on a near-by yaht wave up at me. I paid no attention to them, though I loved it when I could show off my suit.

"Is it ready?" a voice appeared as did a face-time call from my boyfriend, Pepper.

"Yup," I replied, "Light 'em up."

I flew through the city, looking for my tower. And when I did, I must say, I was very proud of myself.

"How does it look?" Pepper asked.

"Like Christmas, but with a little more me."

I could the letters S-T-A-R-K written across one of the tallest buildings in downtown New York City.

"I'm gonna take a jet to DC tomorrow, and-."

"Pepper, you're killing me. Enjoy the moment, remember?"

"Get in here and I will."

I flew my suit onto a special balcony on the building that I had built especially for me. Landing on the circle, I began walking inside, as my machines took my suit off piece by piece.

"Miss, Agent Maria Hill from SHIELD is on the line," my computer system, Jarvis spoke up.

"Not taking any calls. I'm on a date. Tell her I'm not in, I'm actually out."

Walking inside, I heard Pepper say, "Energy levels are stable, I think."

I could see his handsome face, with his chiseled face and blue eyes, glancing at the Stark screens.

"Don't worry," I told him, as I came up behind and wrapped my arms around his torso, "Just think, all this, came from you."

"No," he corrected, turning around and pointing at my heart reactor, "All this came from that."

What he is saying is partially true, but I wasn't gonna let him know that.

"Stark tower is your baby, give yourself...12% of the credit."

"12%!" he asked, pretending to be offended and began walking towards the couch.

"And argument can be made for 15%."

"My baby, and I own 12%."

"Well, I did all the heavy lifting. I mean, I have the suit and all."

"12%?"

"But I did do all the heavy lifting."

Pepper sighed as he knelt beside the coffee table that held some wine and two glasses, "There's something I wanna talk to you about, Torri."

"And I am gonna pay for that comment in some subtle way aren't I?"

"It's not gonna be that subtle."
