It's just hard to get up somedays. We all get it! But how you're supposed to get up if you're not able to move your feet, because you danced five hours the night before without noticing your aching tools? Yes, that's the question I'm asking myself every Monday!
I was about to call for help, but someone was already by my side to help me. I don't know what I would be doing without my dad Will and his best friend Theo, who's also my beloved godfather.
"Hey Bubbels, how's it going today?! You're exited for New York? I can tell by the look on your face that you can't wait to see all the smelly people on Manhattan's streets!" Theo was joking around and being his cheerful self. Before I could even answer him he already had me on my feet supporting me on my way to the bathroom and left as I was entering it. I never needed long to get ready!
Believe me, I love dressing up and wearing make up, but I hated the feel of a foundation in a sweaty and cold plain.
I went downstairs to the kitchen and like every other day dad was on his laptop and Theo was trying to rock his hips in the beat of the music, which was a cheesy Beyoncé song.
Dad gave me a kiss on the cheek before handing me the newspaper and we started talking about what would happen today.
Today was a big day for me. It was the day I returned back to New York after a two year stay in Germany, because of daddy's work. Don't get me wrong: I love Germany, it's culture and people, but you obviously can't compare it to Manhattan. I miss my home and my crazy Greek family, that's always loud and silly and caring...
Growing up in Manhattan was a pure delight! My life was perfect, even though I never had a mom. It was always dad and I and every other member of our close and extended family. My dad got my mom pregnant at the age of seventeen. He claims that she was the love of his life, but how can you love someone who left you and your child right after labour?!
I never understood that and I can say after 18 years of living that I couldn't be happier! My dad was my best friend, my idol and guide through every hard chapter of the story of my life.
A few hours later I was stuck between dad and Theo in an air plain on its way to the JFK airport. I couldn't help but smile while thinking about my grandparents, my aunts and uncles and cousins.
I knew that this was going to be life changing and hard breaking.
