Chapter 6 Hospitalized
I walked into the school late and instantly heard my name.
“Did you hear?” a slut girl with red hair that she obviously had dyed asked her other slutty friend with blonde hair. I think I slept with both of them.
“About Jared?” the other slut asked.
“Yeah. It’s horrible that he got into a bike crash. I can’t believe anyone could be drunk at this time of day,” the slut with red hair instantly had my attention.
They can’t be talking about Vivienne can they? There’s no way. This is what happens when you come halfway through the day. You aren’t caught up on everything.
Why hasn’t anyone called me to let me know? My mom would have called Vivienne because she still thinks that we are friends. I went to pull my phone out of my pocket but it wasn’t there. Shit! I left it at home on the charger. I continued walking to my locker when the school’s intercom spoke.
“Will Vivienne Clare please report to the principal's office,” the receptionist spoke into the intercom.
I turned around and headed towards the office. When I got there I saw Mom standing by the desk.
“Vivienne you need to come with me,” Mom looked like she had been crying.
I felt bad for her.
“Why?” I asked.
I wanted to know if the rumors were true or if people were just making them up.
“Jared’s in the hospital. He was sent there this morning,” she answered.
I felt my heart break a little. I can’t believe I let that happen to Vivienne. I nodded my head and followed Mom outside. I got in her car and we drove to the hospital. We drove all the way there in silence. Mom parked the car and I got out. I ran to the desk. There was a lady sitting at the desk on her computer. I cleared my throat. The lady looked up at me with a smile.
“How can I help you?” she asked.
“Could you please tell my where Jared Hernandez is,” I told her.
“I’m sorry but he’s still in surgery. He had a pretty bad bike crash,” she told me.
I nodded my head. Not trusting myself to say anything in case I started to cry. I walked away and towards the waiting room. Mom followed me and started to cry again. I leaned over the chair and hugged her. I felt bad for her. She thinks she might lose a child but she doesn’t know that her child is sitting with her. I looked up from Mom’s shoulder and looked around. Where’s Matt?
“Mo...Ms. Hernandez where is Matt?” I asked.
She looked at me with a sad expression and said, “He was the drunk driver that cut him off making him crash.”
Mom cried even more. Why was Matt drinking? He never drinks. He has also leaves earlier in the morning and doesn’t come home late at night. He usually brings a girl home because it distracts what my sluts and I are doing in my room. I’m getting really concerned for him. What happened to my innocent brother?
Mom was now crying. She was mumbling stuff that was innocent. I think she is wondering what happened to her sons. Well son because I’m right here.
“What’s going on with Matt? He hasn’t been the same lately,” I asked.
“I don’t know. He has always been so sweet and kind. I think he is going through a phase right now. I don’t know if Jared told you this but Matt was bullied for the last couple of years because of his brains and not being built. He was sort of nerdy but now he looks just like Jared. If they wore same clothes and brought the same type of girls home I wouldn’t have been able to pick them apart. I’m worried about Matt,” Mom confessed.
