Blinding rays of sunlight peeked through Kihyuns bedroom window as he stirred awake. He blinked his eyes as he tried to process where he was. Eyes blurry he blinked a few more times before everything became clear. Kihyun was laying on his bedroom floor. Something crinkled beneath him as he rolled to get up. It was a empty hot Cheetos bag. Looking at the floor around him it was scattered with a few empty water bottles and candy wrappers in his otherwise pristine bedroom. His TV screen was on, but dimly lit as it had a message displayed on the screen.
MinDawg invited you to play Fork Knife 5:27am
He had fallen asleep in midst of his and Minhyuks gaming spree. Yawning he stretched a bit before he stood up. His bones cracking and popping in the process. It sounded unsettling, but felt great. Two weeks have passed since his high school graduation and so far he's accomplished nothing he originally aimed to do. Instead he's been hiding away inside his house and playing video games. If Wonho were here he'd be disappointed. Side eyeing his food choices and lack of physical activity.
Staggering to the restroom he didn't even notice his mother and the other figure sitting in the living room. After taking his morning pee, washing his face and brushing his teeth he walked out looking much more alive. Well, minus the slight under eye bags. Kihyun nearly jumped when he was met with his mother staring at him and oh god no...the eyes of Shownu their next door neighbor. Suddenly he became all to conscious of the fact he was in worn out pj's. Seriously why does he still have them if they're this faded, there is a small hole on the shoulder and his hair was going in all different directions. He squeaked out a good morning before he tried to make an escape to his bedroom. However, his mother was much faster.
"Kihyun it's 3pm" she said, "Come here I was just telling shownu how thrilled you are to babysit for him!" His mother smiled at him with a scheming glint in her eyes. Kihyun tilted his head slightly confused as he reluctantly walked into the living room taking a seat next to his mother.
As he was about to open his mouth to voice his thoughts shownu spoke first, "I really appreciate it. You don't how much you doing this is going to help." He said eyes softening. This is a expression kihyun loathed for the simple fact it was absolutely adorable. Kihyun could feel his own heart contract. You're not twelve anymore pull yourself together! He scolded himself internally.
"Yes! I'm so proud of him offering to babysit your boys. It's a good way to spend the summer with some responsibility." Kihyuns mother agreed looking at her son who in turn mouth dropped.
Did she say babysit? Babysit the two demons next door!? "What are you talking—," Kihyun began only to seal his lips shut when his mother gave him the look. You know the look. The look that only mothers had the power to posses. "I-I mean yeah, I'm thrilled." He said quickly lip involuntarily twitching. Shownu and his mother smiled in response. Although one was a lot more menacing than the other making kihyun gulp. He lived with that individual.
"It's crazy, the kid I used to babysit in high school is now babysitting my kids." Shownu chuckled lightly his eyes crinkling at their outer corners. Suddenly his phone vibrated on the side table. Picking it up he tapped on the screen before standing, "I'm sorry I have to go chaos broke loose at the shop. You're still available from 6 to 9 right?" He asked looking at kihyun.
"Oh, uh, yeah" he replied nodding.
Putting his phone in his pocket shownu gave kihyuns mom a quick hug, "Ok, see you later. And thanks again! " He said ruffling kihyuns already messy hair. All to soon he was out the door and running off into his black car.
Following in his steps kihyuns mom locked the front door with a click. Turning on her heels she looked at her son expectantly. "Mom! What did you do?" He squawked.
She shrugged as she walked into the kitchen her son in tow. "I saw he made a post on Facebook looking for a babysitter. I simply commented you said you'd gladly do it."
"He uses Facebook?" Kihyun asked incredulously. Damn it, he knew he should've kept his account instead of deleting it three years ago. Shownu was basically off the radar when it came to social media. Yeah, he may be his neighbor he knew since he was in middle school and yes, he technically could see him whenever, but Kihyun wouldn't get the perks of the online world. Kihyun couldn't save his pictures, check his story, or basically stalk him in the socially acceptable way.
His mom sighed, "Yes dear, he uses Facebook."
"Wait! That's not the point what I was going to say is, why? Why did you say I would babysit his kids?" Kihyun asked backtracking.
"I would say to make money, but honestly I just want you out of the house. It's your last summer before college and your either held up in your room all day or in my kitchen!" She ranted. "Now do whatever you need to do because your babysitting in three hours. Besides I doubt they're that bad. They seemed sweet each time I've met them." His mom reasoned.
Kihyun groaned, "They're sweet to you because you're well...you know."
"Old?" she squinted.
"You said it not me," He said quickly putting his hands up in defense in turn she rolled her eyes.
